I\'m not quite sure if this is the right thread, but I\'ll post here anyway.
I\'ve just installed the latest CVS versions of cel, CS and PS, however not cal3d because it failed to compile on my machine. Instead I use 0.11.0_pre20050823 provided by Gentoo.
It went relatively smooth, but when trying updater --auto the first time I got the following output:
Trying mirror Laanx..
Server error 404 (http://psteam:p1ane@laanx.fragnetics.com/updater_hidden/version.dat)
Bad version info in file: /this/updatertemp/Laanx.dat
*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid pointer: 0x082b9f64 ***
After that, when I try to rerun the updater, it always freezes on the registry:
NOTIFY: psUpdaterEngine initialized.
Checking registry version...
The updater just keeps standing there, no error message, processor load on 100%.
I followed the CVS instructions for Gentoo systems, also commented out \"docs\" and \"root\" from the module section and later even removed it from the updaterconfig.xml file, both didn\'t work out.
gcc is 3.4.4, glibc is 2.3.5-r2
During the compilation of CS I had a computer crash (just rebooted, no clue why), after that I just recompiled CS and continued.
So I wonder: Is this a bug, a version incompatibility, my personal fault, bad luck, whatever?

P.S.:
Whe I try to run psclient (without update), it complains about missing or not found CS plugins and recommends me to export the path to CS, although I exported it already.
Maybe this helps in some way.
