This seems like a good solution. Certainly easier to recover from then a total wipe. Either would have been good, but a targeted wipe seems to be the best solution to the problem.
I'm a little sad about having lost about 800k that was part of a 1m gift a friend gave me to help with my training, but I still have my pair of legitimately gained Silverweave Shortswords (thug loot, and an admittedly suspiciously cheap one which I bought) and my pair of (again legitimately gained-these were a gift from another friend) Silverweave daggers. As long as I've still got those, and my handmade weapons, I can make back what I lost. As far as who's to blame, I'm blaming the general community of Rogues for stealing from me in my sleep and killing them, hoping that the looting of one of their corpses will have my bag of 3,200 circles. Unfortunately, I doubt that will be the case, but they do carry nice swords...
On the subject of mules and money holders, guild banks, etc.: If you have that kind of money in the guild's bank, and you are running a guild, then you should spend some of it on lavish parties for the members and their friends... But that's just me. My thoughts are that a guild doesn't need funds unless it's going to DO something with them; and if they are DOING something with the funds, then they wouldn't have them sitting around anyways. Spread the money around among the guild members who are in need of it, perhaps funding the purchase of numerous items to be distributed as general things in your guild, depending on the nature of the guild, these would be different.
