Greetings Nikodemus,
im glad you have a few questions.

I have a few questions.
Why did you draw elipses instead of circles?
Why is the azure sun blocking the signal?
Why a mirror is supposed to show something while reflecting the Crystal, or something?
What about other levels? is the signal blocked by rock? (yes?)
-Since i dont know whether the crystal has a round shape ... i drew elipses ... incase it is indeed a cone we could call them circles.

-The story (which btw is itself sometimes inconclusive and even contraditory

) mentions the strong radiation close the the azure sun, so it appears to be safe to assume that this radiation and the crystal's density and diameter would block the acoustic signals.
-Yes the mirror (infrared spectroscope) may consist of a reflecting layer and some sort of display scale... the colour output should indicate the "circle zone" the user is within (e.g. circle zone 1 = 0-20 Yliakum length units, radiation level lethal, circle zone 2 = 21-50 YLUs, radiation level non-lethal only to Kran)
-Other levels have a different circle grid (since the crystal is no cylinder) hence more sofisticated mirrors are required. Those "compartments" would have no acoustic bell tower (at least for some time until the council of hydlaa approves the method for field implementation - it is rumoured that the sound signals have a side effect on pterosaurs causing them to drift offcourse

)

But you need to explain your method better.
Probably

, but please take into account - that I am NOT offering a FINAL and ALL-IN ONE SOLUTION, but rather a starting point ... on which the community can debate and above all IMPROVE

.
*edit*
* steuben considers this for a momemt
the problem is that it doesn't solve the two point problem. for each point on the circle you have two points that have the same intensity. but adding a second accoustic point will solve that one.
but there maybe a much more serious problem. the system would work in an open environment. but in the closed cavern of yliakium you will get echoes. and with the echoes you will get interferece. that will play havoc with intensity of the signal. by walking a few feet you could be several miles from your original position.
* steuben begins to shape an alternative method...
Hey steuben, lets see if
* Kayril gets the dilemma.
Lets assume the Bronze Doors and the Oja Road are on the opposite side of the Crystal.
The further assumption is that two players can be on the same circle on each side. To make it "worse" the distance to the Bell Tower in Hydlaa is also the same ... hence they "calculate" the same coordinates

although they are in different regions

.
* Kayril wonders if he got the problem ...
This would be a real problem ... if there was a LEVEL-wide map showing all circles.
But I propose regional maps for Hydlaa, Oja, BD-Road, Oja-Road, BD-Canyon (would fit with the loaded maps ingame).
Do you think with a second bell tower some sort of triangulation could be possible

Last but not least the special cases:
- The mirrors wont work in caves, mines, sewers and so ... only the very best cartographers would be able to use them at night.

- Echoes should only be a problem at the outskirts of the level like BD Waterwheel. The sound signals work BEST

in an air environment ... some Klyros might be able to process them under water but on land everyone needs the "wind-harp".
-At a later stage kran scienctists could invent some sort of portable seismometer (early models should be very heavy) for the lower cave levels = ?stone labyrinths?.
