This game…you know what? Blank out the stats, the skills, extras, alchemy, magic, crafting, metallurgy etc, take it out and what’s left? The people, this game is damn addicting. I figured that what makes’s this game so good is us, the players, not the testers but us.  It’s like computer magic in a sense, it’s the Community.

•   Volund’s beginning*

Volund logs on. ‘November 13, 2006’
Volund walks to harnquist.
Volund sees a group of people standing around chatting.
Volund says “hey”
The group greets him and smile.
Volund asks where can he train and get a sword.
One kind fenki shows him the way to the arena and gives him a pair of swords.
Volund trains and after awhile meets a dermorian who shows him into the Elemental Light guild.
Volund learns about role-play and soon finding he is not leveling…but enjoying the game.

*all true*

This was my first time playing planeshift.
Let me educate those who don’t have an idea about other RPG’s

Runescape: Log on and they call you a mottled form of a bad word so they can get around the auto ***&%$$^^$ when a bad word is put into chat box.

WoW: power level

Everquest: power level

Planeshift: people greet you and talk to you. Role-play is fantastic. Leveling isn’t exactly a big deal and it’s no biggie if you don’t level.

You could take out PvP entirely, and it wouldn’t matter I wouldn’t quit, I play the game because the community is first, role-play is second and then whatever you think. This is my opinion and feel free to copy what I am saying and figure out what I mis-phrased. I love this game, I won’t quit, but Im not playing constantly, Im staying.
(this is really a fan for Ps thing but its true)

Love, your enemy, your friend, your lover.
Volund.

* Parallo sighs.

I thought there was hope with the first post.
I suggest the statue of Laanx gets turned into a statue of Parallo <3. An NPC could never replace the huge hole he left in my heart when he died  :'(

* Minks smiles encouraging at Parallo "Never give up hope!"

@Volund: Well said, the community is the key. Just like you (and probably almost everyone), I was "adopted" by some players at my beginnings. And my guild always does it's best to spread this helpful attitude by taking newbies by the hand wherever we can.

I am glad that the rest of this game is so boring then! It encourages us to make it interesting ourself and that is how this great community came to exist.

The game itself has plenty of content I think but it's the less actionpacked pace that gives us time to chat and develop social relationships with eachother. That and the difficulty with getting information about things.

The best part of the community is all the old players whining "Oh, the community is dying!  The community is dying!  Curse you, [trendy scapegoat of the day]!"

Not only have I met everyone, but I am everyone you know.

That sounds oddly reminiscent of "I am the Alpha and the Omega"

This sounds like an statement of humbleness.

The ego is not master in its own house.

It's not the fun that you have, it's the fun that has you.

It's not the players that make the game good, it's the game that makes the good players.

It's not you who blanks out the stats, it's the stats that blank you out.

It's not you who could take PvP out, it's PvP that could take you out.
