Commerce Guild

Introduction:

The commerce guild is exactly what it says it is. A group based on the advancement of trade inside Plane Shift. We are open to all sectors of crafting, and offer a clear set of advancement goals for players to complete to climb up the group’s ladder of achievement. Advancement is based on points acquired through group quests, work, contribution, and Guild relations.

Openings:

The members of Planeshift are infinite and so are the openings in the Commerce. All members are given the right to invite new members so if you see someone ask and you can join. Positions are in great demand so if you have experience in a certain field please inquire and see where you can fit into the group.
Ranks:
The guild master is known as the Chona. He is in control of the entire organization an is who decides on placement inside the organization.

The Level 8 members are known as Changun. They receive orders from the top but given their own personal judgment to decide on how to better their area of industry.

The level 7 Tukmu.

Level 6 Sanggup

Level 5 Byoungjeong

Level 4 Sangbyoung

Level 3 Byoungsa 2

Level 2 Byoungsa 1

Level 1 Gukmin

Hi Joshua! Since I've been criticized in the past for handing critics in a harsh way, I've added this little disclaimer here to tell you that the following texts are my humble opinions (even though I'll defend them with all the arrogance I can muster!) and that they're meant to hint you towards tweaking your guild and making it as good as possible. I realise you might be new around and that this is might be your first attempt, and so I'll let you know that I am in no way trying to demotivate you.

Anyway. Let's get on with it already.

A Commerce guild should be something more organized. People should know well the workings of your guild, and your ideas on making money. Of course you'd pose them in a vague way, so people wouldn't steal the idea.
Check the Imperial Trades' Promotional Thread so you can see how an already established guild has approached the merchantile side of Planeshfit. If you ignore the [] and /u's in excess (not Natrina's fault, it's something about the forums) you'll see that it looks well structured. And that's how yours should look too!

Quote

So, even an outlaw can enter your guild? That doesn't sound safe. Be warned, people won't find you very trustworthy if your ranks are filled with rabble. And you better be on the good side of people, or you're not getting your goods bought.

Also, your ranks lack meaning. They seem to only fit a hierarchical purpose, the names' origin isn't clear and there's only descriptions for the two highest ranks. Not sure what you want your rank structure to be, but if I were you I'd work on clearing out the things I've mentioned.

I am totally against people taking "Yliakum" in their guild names. That is presumptuous. Specially when you name it "Yliakum Commerce." Choose something like "Ferthigaz's Merchantile Front" or "Claw's Commerce Guild" or "Red Commercial Association."

EDIT: Change in the first paragraph, to make a sentence there understandable.
EDIT2: Changed a word in the last paragraph, it wasn't the right one. I must start previewing my posts.

Ah, beaten by my own brother to it. Well, Sangwa covered the most of it, ranks make little sense, name may use some more thought (even though, I congratulate you, your name doesn't include crafters in it) and some more detail would be nice.

Now, a few tips on the economic guilds' business. For the moment, at least, we have only two cities and two final goods we're able to produce: weapons and shields. The cities themselves don't have much that consist an incentive to player inter-city trade and about production, life is also kind of hard as we have NPC, through sells and loots, competition that is, somewhat, hard to go around, as well as the lack of other crafting options (jewel making, farming, etc) and easiness to reach max of some stats that turns almost everyone capable of crafting their own sword. The general public also doesn't truly value crafted weapons and shields are useless for as much as I know. Probably, and hopefully, you already know all of this and I don't want you to get scared away with this, on the other hand, PlaneShift needs more people trying to make it have an interesting economy and it wouldn't be nice to have you being surprised with all those problems. So, all that being said, welcome to the economic-related guild life and good luck.

I don't mean to sound harsh or anything but that was a waste of time to read. I think you can do much, much better than that. You just got in the wrong order. It's think then post.

Actualy i have to go with the crowd of arogancy (you admited it Sangwa and no offense to the rest)
The main problem that should be adresed first and most of all is the names. A guild need some organisation it helps a guild live longer.
Second would be the name since it realy isnt all that great.
And third would be a litle longer story(not another "I killed a million ulbers and am now living peacefully" kind) something along the lines of a "Mather was a wealthy merchan and after he died i decided to follow in his footsteps and found succes and blah blah blah .... and founded the guild".
After these three have been fixed i think it will be a lot better.

Good Luck stick to it ...AND FOR CRIST'S SAKE CHANGE THE NAMES !!!!

I have the impression the guild level names seem to be from an Asian language.

Also it's name is too generic.

"Yliakum Commerce" is a word that could be used to refer to all commercial guilds, artisans, consumers, etc in Yliakum and to the exchange of products between them.

Also it seems pretty loosely organized.

Of course it won't be a big problem if it is intended be a loosely organized association of artisans and merchants,

Yes we are mostly Korean and we do have a system that allows freedom for the players. We are not a big boss guild we are more of movers of items. So please don't become too technical and don't let a a different language of ranks drive you away. For what we have observed no guild has a tight set of rules that are followed by their members. Players do as they wish. So thanks again for your advice and the other ranks are filled in due to what the future may bring. Thus we are allowing the members to decide on the makeup not just a few people. Thanks

Still, you need some more content on that first topic, if you want to go about interesting people in your project. I'd advise following some of the advice, because being "loosely organized" doesn't mean being desorganized. At least as far as rank description goes, explain why it is in that language, or what it means. This way you'll get a better Promotional Thread and maybe spike some of the reader to join.

Obviously consider the mass invite system too. I've seen some guilds burst from so many members they took in. It all becomes confusing at a point and then everyone starts losing interest.

Hi Joshua! Since I've been criticized in the past for handing critics in a harsh way,
*snicker*

Umm... so since he didn't listen to anything you said, does anyone object to me applying my "trial by fire" method?
