lol, I had heard stories about people doing that kind of thing but had always thought it Urban-myth, some of it looks quite fun though. That Golem looked pretty dam cool actually.

As for the last one, That is not exactly how I would imagine that a Duel would go. Seems a little too relaxed IMO ;)

It does look kind of fun to watch but also pretty embarrassing at times. :)

I removed the last video because it was a bit too long winded and not as funny as the first too.

You can search for "LARP" or "Larping" on YouTube though and there are a lot of videos like that.

Golem was cool. I would love to see them go to a local mall like that.

Well, why summarise when you can plagiarize ;)

Quote
Elf defence for 'lingerie thief'

A man accused of a stealing underwear from a shop in a knifepoint raid believed he was a female elf at the time, Belfast Crown Court has heard.
Robert Boyd, 45, from Broadlands in Carrickfergus, is accused of holding up staff at the Orchid shop in Belfast disguised in a wig, hat and glasses.
He told the court he had been involved in a role-playing game at the time, and his character was an elf named Beho.
He denies robbery but says he may have blurred reality and fantasy.
He also said it "could be right" that Beho had intended to rob the shop - although he told the jury he could not remember what was going through his mind at the time.

Japanese sword

He told defence counsel Anthony Cinnamond that within his small social circle he had been participating in a game known as Shadowrun.
The game was set in the future and the assumed characters were criminals, he said.
He told the court his character was a shaman, or magical elf, who carried a small Japanese sword as a weapon.
Mr Boyd, who said he visits a psychiatrist regularly, conceded that he "seemed to have blurred that line between reality and fantasy".

"I can't believe that I personally did that... and I deeply regret that.
"If I had sought some help I would've avoided that in it's entirety."

Prosecutors claim that Mr Boyd knew "perfectly well" what he was doing on the day of the robbery and was "using this memory loss scenario to avoid answering very difficult questions".
The lab technician, from Broadlands in Carrickfergus, denies one charge of robbery.
He is accused of stealing two sets of bras, knickers, suspender belts and stockings from the shop on Lisburn Road on 14 December, 2005.

The case continues.

That is bizarre. But I wouldn't be surprised as to what those Northerners get up to when they're not killing each other :P

I kinda was. But mainly I just wanted to see what everyone's talking about. (And the 4KB had nothing to do with it. My little biatch of a router has half the internet blocked off, including that site...)

Anyone else found any bizzarre RP related stories?

I have a friend who participates in recreations of medieval battles.  They're competitive and there are referees of sorts who make sure people follow the rules.  When you get hit, you can't use that limb.  If someone delivers you a critical hit, you have to play dead - even if it happens right at the start.  There are different clubs in North America and the bigger teams have kings who get carried around on those little carts.  Everyone gets dressed up on it, and they're wearing real armour and they have blunt swords.

So the two biggest teams in North America rent out a park in New York, and they're going to go at it.  The kings travel to the middle, sign declarations and conditions of war, and then return to their teams and they form lines.  That's when the police show up.

The police had formed a line some distance away, perpendicular to the two lines of armored knights.  The King of the bigger club calls out an order to both armies to swing around and form a single line.  There's a special word for it, I forget what it is, but he called out that word and they obeyed.  So you have a line of riot police facing a line of knights in armour.  Two groups of well armoured, well armed, highly trained fighters.

The kings on their carts (whatever they're called) get carried through the lines and go off towards the police line to meet the police chief.  They show the police the papers showing that they had rented out the park.  The police chief didn't believe them at first, but was forced to leave them alone after getting a few more officials involved who confirmed that the documents were legit.

Fun stuff.

That's funny. And weird on so many levels.

Why would they need an entire battalion of riot guards to check some papers anyway? I mean, who would start a revolution with swords and armour and little chariots? :P

The police didn't know that the guys had the park rented out.  All they knew was that the park had filled up with hundreds of armed men dressed like medieval knights.

Both are serving life sentences for the crime.
