a request from the settings team
« on: April 07, 2007, 08:42:10 pm »
Ok, so I write for planeshift and I am curious what the players would like explained. My hope is to glean a greater understanding of what you do not know, or feel must most urgently be explained. I will make no promises in relation to how fast it will be explained or if it will at all. This thread should soley be about what people who have already read the in game material feel is missing from the world that needs to be there. I will not be very happy if the players take this as a chance to argue with eachother. I do not care to hear anything negative, or hear about how much the game sucks. Only respond if you have read what is in game and have the capacity to speak well. I would like to see what you want to know more about what explainations you feel are essential. If this turns into a flame session or players critique eachother's entries I will lock the thread and be much less likely to ask this kind of thing from the players in the future. Thank you in advance for sharing your ideas.

mufler, please keep in mind this is a request from the SETTINGS team.

What we're looking for are things you want to know about the SETTING of Yliakum.

What do you want to know about Hydlaa? Ojaveda? The Eagle Bronze Doors? The levels? The government? Anything that you're wondering about. Settings can't field questions about anything relating to fighting mobs or your stats, etc.

Also I've heard people say we aren't ment to know we are in a slaigtite but I read that a xacha came up with the theory and we aren't alowed to mine on the lower levels because of this. So which way is it?

I know I should think of everything then put it in one post rather than posting as they come.

What happened to that thing where we could ask questions each month and they would be answered at the end of the month?

Could you explain what happens when you die? Not 'you go to the death realm,' but properly explain it in detail.
I suggest the statue of Laanx gets turned into a statue of Parallo <3. An NPC could never replace the huge hole he left in my heart when he died  :'(

Parallo, that info is already available in game.

A more detailed explanation of Yliakum government(Including if it is *cough* "perfect", decent(mostly fine, but there are some crooks), average(like some RL govs) or really corrupt(like "bananas republics"), the way regions are divided - states, districts etc among other things), economy(is it mercantilist, keynesian, laissez-faire or something else? Is there lots or little poverty?) and society(I mean, more detail on aspects like religions, culture, arts and such, character creation, in one of the choices seems to imply Laanx rituals are a bit on the bizarre side, I wonder how exactly...), and whether things like "Politician Career Failed" are mistakes against the Settings, as @Seytra claimed, or not, would be a really good thing to know.

And as @Drah mentioned. Having the knowledge of how law works (besides the obvious that polluting water = death penalty) would be  equally nice.

Just to pinpoint, a proofread of what is currently on Character Creation would be good as well, some of the things there are arguably contradicting of the way some people perceive the currently available information about the Settings.

Do the differnt levels have differnt laws? Where does the law extend to e.g. can you get away with anything in the dungeons? Pregnancy times of races is a question asked alot. Would certain races expect a strikter upbringing than others? Are cross breed familes common? Is adoption common? Considering the time period would it be more admirable to be fatter or thinner and what about skin tone?
