Ive been having fun with TurfBattles recently.
Ok so its a pure hack n slash but its great fun.
Its in its open beta stage and its free.

GFX & SFX are good and very little lag.

Ive already made a small band/group.  We chat using TeamSpeak as timing is important  to organise an attack on a large creature and for wars.

http://www.play-free-online-games.com/
That was the site that linked me to planeshift
I will never forget it!
Anybody play knights online?
https://www.knightonlineworld.com/
I play!
Its sorta like planeshift
I think its free, but I\'m too lazy to read

*edit*

Omg, I also know this other game
Its PURE strategy and no flashy graphics at all
the people are nice though, and you get hooked pretty quick because You\'re always thinking about the fate of your kindom and strategy.

It\'s sad that so few of these games can be played on Linux.  I will stick will PS.

I\'ve spent hours researching free Massive Multiplayer On-Line Role Playing Games (MMORPGs) that are fairly new and have good or better graphics:

-Conquer Online:  Free to Play (F2P) but you can buy Dragonballs to \'up\' your equipment.  At higher levels you pretty well need to do this so it\'s a sneaky way to get your money.  Good game all around, 2d graphics with 3d effects with a large following,

-SilkRoad:  F2P but similiar to Kal Online,

-Kal Online:  F2p but you can purchase items to aid you in various ways, e.g. to not fail in raising stats of an item; increase experience gain for a short time; etc.,

-Rubies of Eventide:  F2P.  Same principles as PlaneShift.  An EverQuest like game free to a smaller, select community.  If you are young and immature then don\'t come here (perfect for roll playing adults).  I believe it\'s a smaller player world but over a thousand possibilities in character creation!  Donations are accepted but not forced,

-Guild Wars:  F2P.  Initially you pay for the game then it is free to play anytime.  Some of the best graphics and sound in an online game but there is a cap of level 20, and

-PlaneShift:  F2P.  I\'m looking forward to playing this game after reading all material I could find on it.  I especially like the idea of combining glyphs to make magic spells.  Registration server is down so I haven\'t had a chance to play this yet, but the graphics look good+.

Check the following link to all these games and more:

http://www.mmorpg.com

Select \"Game List\" tab and sort by the headers.

All views are my own, I\'m not working with any of the above listed.
No good deed ever goes unpunished!

Found one I like

http://www.prairiegames.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

They have a free demo that plays on a special Demo server.  Graphics are not cutting edge, but close to PS in quality.  Only tried it for a few hours, but it is good, really too good for a recovering EQ adic.

The unique part is that you can have from one to 6 characters online at once.  Graphically they are shown as one character.  This is a love hate thing for me.  I enjoyed making my own 4 man party of adventures, but having all four of them permately stacked on top of each other is a big minus for me, and makes the game feel like the garage game that it is.  Also my computer is a bit on the slow side for controlling all four of the characters in battle.  The interface is easy enough but any lag in casting heals means a dead party member.

You don\'t NEED to buy DBs with real money, you can do so with ingame money, or from monster drops, or with vps. I made my 2 soc super +2 bow out of hunting money (that means 5 DBs for 2nd socket, 4 for unique -> elite, and 6 for elite -> super) You only need to hunt, or mine and get lucky.
Anyway, Conquer Online 2 is the only other MMORPG I play. Graphics are really cool, saddly it\'s overrun by little kids who call everyone \"noob\" or \"fag\" and annoying br (brazilians) who speak no english at all (or at least they act like they don\'t) and looks like their goal in life is to annoy other players.  Luckily there are also nice people, so it\'s bearable, if you find them.

Undate on Minions of Mirth,

They are doing some server side changes and the free server is down.  They have a premium version of the game for 30 bucks, but I am still trying out the game\'s free version.  I also had to download a new copy of the game.  The one I had was titled \"demo version\", now the new free version of the game is titled \"free version\"

For now the game has no monthly fee. However they could pull a knights online gimic and start charging as soon as they get a player base.

By far the best one (and done a little differently than most MMORPG\'s...in fact many don\'t classify it as one...)

Guild Wars!!  http://www.guildwars.com

Yes it is a great game full to the brim of strategy fun, fighting and spell slinging.  I love it.  Can\'t get away from it.  I am sorry.

Only down side is there are a lot, and I mean a lot of immature players...but there are still many nice ones.
There are two types of people in this world: The Pinky and the Brain.
Which one are you?

*sighs*  I miss playing Dark Age of Camelot.  I just hate the fact that Mythic mucked up the balance, and started concentrating on flashy new stuff. Whatever the last expansion was....the one with the unicorn mounts...that\'s what did me in, and I left the game without looking back.

I\'m gonna give rubies of eventide a look...apparently it\'s free...looks a little dated, but i\'ve seen worse I think.  Besides, they have an RP server ^^  Can\'t stand people who use generic words, 1337 or nonsensical names for their characters. :P

Played Minions of Mirth for a few days, but couldn\'t really get into it.  I like being able to custumize my character\'s model a little more than that.  The game just felt incomplete to me.  The music wasn\'t bad though hehe.

I may go look at WoW like all the other bedazzled masses if I can get a good job heh.  ALthough I hear their servers are notorious.

About Rubies of Eventide

Such a great game and community deserves some attention. It has a fully implemented reputation system[political?] which, for examlpe, could even make you able to talk to your opponents[if the reputation of their  fraction is good to you.]

It has D&D combat controls, good for roleplaying, 100 classes, 7 races[orc, ogre, elf, human, gnome, dwarf, leshy[magical being from another realm they say]] and it\'s f2p!

It has 3 servers:
Halberd[PvP]
Fireopals[Roleplay. pure roleplay]
Pheonix[Normal server]

The webpage to Rubies of Eventide can be accessed HERE

It has a lovely community and now i\'m not just saying that cause i love the game. The game sure has a great community![Though, if you want curses and havoc, join the Halberd servers, though not as a fresh newb. Try the Pheonix server first].

Happy playing and \"Chose Wisely\"!
