Then Xillix got lucky and avoided the attention from us critical minds :P All this advice is just advice, it's not something you need to do but only what people think would be better. Nobody will force you to follow up on it, if you don't want to.

Personally I remember finding the Vespers of Laanx a great initiative but tackled in an odd manner, back in Xillix' days. Especially the part about the many rank names and their way of handling themselves, which reminded me more of a theatre troupe than a religious guild. It's just not how I would do or see things but that doesn't mean it's wrong.

I completely ignored it the first time.

I didn't now. That should make you happy, not sad.

..Is it not wierd...that this "Promotional Thread" is one that..at one point...was the same as posted by Xillix when she was the Guild Leader..yet I don't recall so much discussion about the wording of that thread ever happening?...hmmmm
I agree with Sangwa and Zan. I pretty much thought this guild was a joke in my opinion then. Be happy that the more established members of the community such as Sangwa and Zan are actually acknowledging your existence.

Um the "masquerade god" anyone? The original conception was a stab in the dark for some undeveloped settings. I see no reason to poke fun when there was nothing else at the time. Vespers did bring life to the game at that time and many players came in character to seek advice on matters of the faith.

I have tried my best to honor some fairly absurd premises forwarded by players with my work since joining settings. I don't see the reciprocity at all. If being sardonic is the extent of evil I will have to turn good. :P

It still seems fairly jokish, considering the leader walks around like a jester. Like Xillix says however, Laanx is the Masquerade God and, in my opinion, only crazy people would worship a god that has gone through so many moods, foul and good alike.

:P

:) I truely enjoy the input  here...and I do take this as advise..and to a point....I truely enjoy seeing the comments from such {what I call}  Elders in the world in which we "live"...Thank you so very much :)

I do have a question/comment..that I would like to address though..and not sure if this is where such should be done..but...

I have had a few Vespers and a few other players ask me why I don't change the Rank Titles to something more umm.."religious"...but wouldn't doing so make this a diiferent Guild and no longger  have the "right" to be the Vepers of Laanx...cuasing the Vespers to once again.."die off"?

Personally I reject the Idea that these names are somehow not religious, I reject earth ideas of what a religion is or can be entering into the debate.

It is your guild now, do with it what you wish.

A leader can choose to be the only one detaining the power to manipulate the information and look of the guild, but if that fails to motivate your members and your guild suffers by it, then it is wiser to just change things. Public opinion is irrelevant, as long as the guild grows / serves its purpose.

Though the names might sound incoherent, the whole guild thing sounds just like that. Which makes it consistent through its lack of coherence. The Vespers choose to worship Laanx and all her facets, it is normal that they've developed such a strange arrangement.

The reason why I've ignored the Vespers before is merely because it skipped my record. I thought it would make sense to make this note.

I'd like to note that I said this as an explanation for why I never bothered to critique the Vespers of Laanx. I just can't find myself in the guild's structure .. but I'm fully aware that that is my issue, though I wouldn't directly call it a failing ... I'll stick with difference of opinions. :P Either way, the Vespers have a great foundation to build from but you'll find that running  guild and keeping interest, both from the members and the outside public isn't always easy. I wish you the best of luck with it though. Religion is slowly increasing in popularity in the game, take advantage of that. ;)

The goal of the Vespers of Laanx is to enrich Yliakum for ourselves and other folks in Yliakum by making Laanx a more palpable presence in the land. We are ----->an<------ order of priests of the faith of Laanx. With a rich history that grows richer by the day we are a proud, strong, and stable member of the community of guilds in Yliakum.

Zan, Vespers never claimed to the THE order of priests, just AN order of priests. If you cannot find room for your version of the faith in the Vespers that is perfectly acceptable and as a settings dev I would like to encourage alternative visions of the faith.

The official (settings) version of the faith should be out sometime soon and the vespers and any other group or individual can adjust/interpret accordingly.

I hope very sincerely that players will latch unto the religions as provided (by settings) roles.

Many are now still looking for ways to express player vs player conflicts (via race primarily). Religious disputes (hopefully only intellectual) can provide some unique chances for rp.

I'll look forward to more information about the religion. At the moment I have enough projects running, the Dakkru's Will for one so I'm not going to overburden myself by taking up too many religions at once. :P

I wonder if we need some kind of breath of new life into this guild. Once central, now ignored.

Central? Heh, I guess we all think that about our guilds. *grins*

But you're right. We're needing serious approaches on religious guilds.
