Yea, PS looks too much like it's rival: Runescape (wich is better somehow)
Why? Here are some of the reasons:
1) Fighting: Almost the same fighting sistem, just that in PS damage is shown in the chat window.
2) Mining: Same as runescape: "Mines" are random stones.
3) Mining: Same sistem, you mine at a rock, just like in Runescape
Till now, these are the things that make PS Runescapeish, and as we see, PS has only fighting and mining, especialy for the newbies.
My sugestion to improve:
1) Fighting: Each atack should damage all enemies in its range (I ment sword or mace). A random key should be the atack button. If it is held, the character should atack, even if there are no enemie selected.
2) Mining: Mines should be places under the ground, like caves. Players should mine from ore stones, on the walls or ground. Deep in the mine should be creatures, such as cave Tefusang, Dark Rougue etc., but the ore there should be easier to mine. Maybe some of them should have multiple exits/ enterances.
3) Mining: Players, if equipted with a pick, should press the atack button near a rock and the oore should be mined after a time. Each succesfuly mine should give some XP.

xD

Yes sir, both fighting systems involve damage and mining is done from rocks, we're obviously too similar, I bet they're gonna sue any second.

BTW, (to my knowledge) mining is already in caves, it can be mined from walls etc, and it does give xp. Totally pointless and useless thread. I'm surprised Neko hasn't locked it yet  :P
Talamir - DeT, Dark Empire, etc, etc, etc.

Settle folks. No need to flame the guy or insult him. That is even less constructive than posting topics or ideas that have already been talked about, obvious, or rejected.

Nightwolf, please stop posting these threads. I advise you to go back and read through the wishlist to see the direction PlaneShift is going in.

As the person who suggested he post his ideas in general discussion as opposed to the wish list it kind of saddens me to see the dog-pile forming on top of him.
Were none of you ever told by your mommies that "if you have nothing good to say then don't say anything?" Seriously this is the kind of thing that puts people off of the forums in the first place.

It seems to me that this person has had little experience with MMORPGS else he would understand that Runes scape is not all that. He is not saying that PS should be more like Runescape his ideas are how to differentiate it from his only previous referent.

Physical attacks affecting several opponents is not a horrible idea as it is something quite possible in real life. I would not suggest it as the default attack myself but it could be a specialized attack due to some skill. The one key click to attack every click makes an attack is an idea I have seen presented before by others, albeit not recently, there is no harm in that even though it is unlikely to be adopted. His ideas about mining are not particularly well formulated but while the current system works it is far from optimum, I think gold should be far more commonly found through panning than just digging here as the mother lode has always been a place of extreme mystery.

One last word if we are to forgo anything obvious, already mentioned or rejected let us just close the forums now because that is most of what is posted anyway from all parties. Does the elephant have a new wrinkle? Maybe, but it is still an elephant.

If I remember correctly, in Runescape, there are mines underground with enemies surrounding them, making them harder to access. That was one of the suggestions you provided so I didn't agree with that much.

Perhaps it's better in a sense because this is still in its test form, from what I understand, but I see great potential for PS, I'm excited to see where it goes.

Runescape had ore stones too, specific rocks that had specific ore, I haven't been able to mine yet I'm terribly new but from what I understood, you could go anywhere and start mining and you might get lucky. I like that idea better.

Now I'm still getting the "Rats are impervious to attack" or any other enemy I come across for that matter so I haven't experienced the fighting style in this game, but I'll take your word for it and assume it's another thing they're trying to work on.

And I don't want to sound like the forum attackers who have nothing to say so they attack your grammar or spelling, but it does need a little work to gain more attention I think. ^-^ If you use Firefox it does spell checking and underlines the words you've misspelled, or you can even open up a word document and paste your post in there and it'll high light even your grammatical mistakes.

You can try to mine anywhere but the ore is only in specific places. Everywhere else you get an error message.

I'm surprised Neko hasn't locked it yet  :P

I was using this thread as a test to see how well the community treats newer members.  I found the results, to be what I expected.
