New to PlaneShift
« on: May 14, 2008, 05:10:41 pm »
I apologize ahead of time if this is in the wrong area or such so bear with me. I'm new to PlaneShift and seemed interested with the whole RP element that seems to be a vital part of the game. I was wondering if I could find a master/guild to help me along until I get the hang of things...I figure not many people get on the forums to help little newbies out so again I apologize if this is in wrong area/stupid request.

lol, I know there should be a guild or something for ya. If you have a child character, I can think of the Waddling Ylubar's (I think that's how you say it anyway). lol

There's also plenty of people who will help you in game, just ask around. They might not come to you, but you can go to them. I know you might not know where it is, but the Tavern in Hydlaa (the starting city) is a good place tofind people to chat with.  :D

And by the way, welcome to PlaneShift.  :)

I'm not asking for like someone to boost/PL or anything more or less to teach me the ropes and just so I can meet some new people/friends so that I can actually get a full experience from the game. I "Again" Love the fact that this game is based around the prospect that each person HAS to Roleplay and look forward to it ^_^

EDIT: Yea I looked at the Ylubar's but I don't plan on making a child character mainly for the fact I would much rather have a more mature/"D&D" Roleplaying experience. Thanks for the info about the Tavern by the way I will be sure to head there after I get on ^_^

Hi Himotsu,

For help ingame, there are many players who are willing to adopt a newbie for a short while.
Some, however are not, sometimes in general, sometimes they are maybe just busy at the time,
so don't get angry with them, just keep trying.
A good approach always is to find somebody who doesn't look to busy at the moment and say
something like "Greetings, I am new to the city and feel a bit lost, do you maybe have a few
minutes?" (If you see me (Minks) ingame, feel free to send me a /tell, if I'm near you, I'll be happy to
show you around a bit.)

In the meantime, you might want to browse around the tutorial section.
A short and comprehensive roleplaying guide can also be found at the mainpage.
Oh, and don't forget the manual that came with your installation, it explains the mechanics and
the settings of the game (i.e. the structure and the history of the world).

Hope this helps a bit,
Best,
Minks

P.S. Don't be surprised if a moderator moves your post to the newbie forum.

Welcome to PlaneShift!

The best way to get started is to ask around ingame, really :) You'll meet a lot of very helpful players and maybe even a guild that suits your character.
If you prefer to read some stuff first i'd suggest you have a look at our fine "Guides and Tutorials".

Enjoy your stay.

Thank you everyone that has input on the situation.

Minks: I will be sure to look you up some time and no disrespect or anything but I know how to not be a n00b.

peeg: I will do that right now thank you ^_^

Hehe, no offence taken.
I just missed you second post and didn't know if you already had RP experience or just
liked the idea of it, so I just threw every link and smart suggestion at you that I could
think of.  :P

It's understandable. I'm just trying to get a feeling for the community of the game before I start up and The talking to the NPCs really adds to the RP element of the game ^_^

several guilds floating around, just hop over to someone in one, and ask for an invite :). I recommend the sheeples or a "help" (are there any yet?) guild.

I'm sure almost anyone in game would be happy to help. Even if their char is assumed to be evil.

There was a help guild last time i checked, though it may have died out, or changed its purpose.
