Hmm... I've always used the psupdater through the Mac terminal - right click, "Show package contents" then "Contents" then "Mac OSX" then "ps_updater_static." It appeared to work fine for me this way in terms of a response... no idea if this helps? Thought i'd mention it anyway. The psupdater GUI never loaded up for me, ever.

The psupdater GUI never loaded up for me, ever.

That's because there isn't one (until next release or so).

Not working.

The patcher kept bouncing for a bit, but I didn't see any windows open or anything - though, I did see the spinning beachball cursor for a few seconds.

After the patcher closed (still no windows or anything, just an abrupt end), those extra icons disappeared.

I checked my updaterinfo.xml file - the contents changed to the kind that does NOT have the "false" or "true" bit at the top.

Double-clicking on the updater now causes it to appear on the dock for a quarter of a second and then disappear.

Halp!!1

As long as it bounces it does an update. If it only bounces a cupple of times and then closes, there is no update available. You can actually see if it loaded anything in your updater log in the PS folder.  :)

Have fun!

Hmm... I've always used the psupdater through the Mac terminal - right click, "Show package contents" then "Contents" then "Mac OSX" then "ps_updater_static."

I tried this method on file "psupdater_static", which started off fine, but then Terminal reported that it could not find file "updaterinfo.xml"...

I opened Spotlight and searched for that filename: it found only one file "updaterinfo.xml.bak" ... strange to have apparently 2 file extensions!

I got brave, located the file and deleted the ".bak" from the filename then saved.

Double-click on "psupdater_static" ... .. . and Terminal raced away and produced this record of its activity:

So, I'm back in-game and, so far -no dire problems!  \\o//

- running PlaneShift Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.11) Client, on an Apple iMac G5 2GHz PowerPC processor, 2GB DDR SDRAM, an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card with 128MB VRAM, a 20-inch active-matrix LCD widescreen display, and a 250GB Serial ATA hard drive... so what's your excuse, huh?

Okay...i got both updaters cuz i'm not sure if ive got 10.3 or 10.4. ran both of them, the icon bounced for a little then disappeared. Tried changing "false" to "true" but couldn't find that part either...I can't understand what half of you are doing so could someone explain in English what I need to do now?  it still wont work... :(

open updaterinfo.xml in textedit and change the false to true. run the updater DO NOT use 10.3.9 updater unless you are sure you have 10.3.9.

open terminal from the Applications/utilities folder
Code: [Select]
cd /Applications/PlaneShift [press enter]
./psupdater.app/Contents/MacOS/psupdater_static CheckIntegrity [press enter]

where it says [press enter] press the enter/return key on the keyboard. the updater will run and verify your install and update any files needed.

Ran the updater in terminal, said a bunch of the files were incorrect, and asked to download the correct ones.  I said yes.  Was I right??
