so i downloaded this for vista

the download seems to go fine

and when i click the icon to play the actual game it says "This application has failed to start because OpenAL32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

please help me

i have gone to properties and set it to administrator and windows XP compatiability mode

go to where you installed ps and edit updaterinfo.xml, change the line with false in it to true then run the updater and it should work

no where ps was installed, if you didn't change the install dir it should be c:\Program\PlaneShift Steel Blue

well i'm not too familiar with vista as i use xp myself and another language xp at that but... this might work
press and hold the windows key on your keyboard then press e so you get the explorer window
somewhere there you should see the c: drive, from there go into program or program files and then go into PlaneShift Steel Blue from there you must edit that xml file with notepad or wordpad, where it says false you should change it to true, save and exit the edit program, run the updater from the start menu and that should be it, don't think i can explain it any simpler sorry

yes that is easy enough to understand

but i have come across a problem

ok so after changing the word from false to true i tell it to save and it says this 


"Cannot creat the C:\Program Files\Planeshift Steel Blue\updaterinfo.xml file.
Make sure that the path and file name are correct. "

i'm sorry to say it but this game requiers some computer knowlige especially about your own comp, anyway try and get to that folder namly planshift steel blue and find that file

i have found that file

and i changed the word false to true

and i pressed save and it says that cannot creat file thing

odd... maybe you still have the updater window open, it would have a black background with grayish text

reinstall ps outside the program files folder and do the above again.

what do you mean by install it OUTSIDE of the programs folder?
