NPCs located inside the ground

A friend was desperately searching an NPC at the ruins: He had it targeted and ran around for more than an hour, only to find it here. Same for for the mobs which were idling here.

He tried to have the map reloaded crossing both borders, the one to Hydlaa, and the one to BDroad2, both didnt change a thing.

I guess your friend should run the psupdater.

Maps have changed, and as a result some people who did run the updater appear to be in the ground, while on other hand people appear to be flying to them.

I am assuming that your friend didn't run the updater yet and that the NPCs are located using the new maps. If this assumption is wrong, then running the updater was what caused the effect in the first place.

What I know is, that he ran the updater few days ago, still after I did, and at the moment I cant update. So I assume his client is updated like mine.

If this issue was caused due to updating, what would be a possible solution? Avoiding quests including this NPC? :P

Well, I've updated too, and after checking the location I don't see any NPC any more. So it seems it is a bug with the current update.
It might affect other objects to, like signposts and mines.

Possibly not signposts, as they don't fall down until they hit ground.

It is quite possible that the heightfield based maps - which now use the very new, and therefore very untested, "terrain2" engine plugin - got a shift in coordinates, so the NPCs here now spawn a little below the surface, and keep falling down from there until they hit the skydome.

I ran the updater, and have been for a while, but nothing's changed. I'm also having this problem, since yesterday the NPC next to the burial wells was underground, as well as Malco in Gugrontid.

if you see an npc missplaced /petition a gm with the /pos of where you are and they will work on getting it fixed.

Caarrie, it appears to me not to be associated with the NPCs per se but rather with the PC's positioning. I recently had a case where I was boundary walking and got stuck several times. After /unsticking to get out it appeared that I was no longer on the correct level. Walking in clear areas was erratic and when I got to the brigand on the hill  above the valley of rogues on the map that connects Hydlaa, Gugrontid and the way to EBD he was flying. A PC who came along was wading through the ground. Because I was having several problems it seems most likely all the oddities I saw were related to my position. Eventually I got sorted out but it took walking into outer space, between the maps where you fall through.

That all are issues related to a new (and unfortunately still experimental) terrain renderer. PlaneShift is based on CrystalSpace. CrystalSpace develops. So does PlaneShift.

Talad is already working tightly with CrystalSpace specialists to fix this issue urgently.

that is realted to the terrain not the position of npcs that may be under the map. this is as LigH said something talad is working with the CS devs on fixing
