« on: November 02, 2008, 01:46:06 pm »

As anyone can plainly see there is no config false or true clearly that is not the problem, so I went and downloaded the OpenAL32.DLL and it still had an error the updater says there are no updates i have tried running it 14 times nothing works, I run windows xp home edition service pack 3 I first installed it into my program files all of this was the same so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it into a different directory nothing changes, this is allmost seeming like a waste of time. Does anyone have a clue?

Three seperate installs and you dare say that I did not install it right? It's a big mystery as to why there as many posts about this one little file as there are. I'm done, peace out.

hundreds upon hundreds of people have been able to install and run and log into the world without issues by simply installing cleanly the .4.02 client.

yes, i do dare say you didn't install cleanly.

I really want to try this game, so I did exactly what you said went to that link downloaded the file I allready had installed it, no go it is the same problems as last time, it would be so much freakin easier if you just put a openal32.dll that actually worked on this site.

Have you run the updater?

I'm having the exact same problem with 4.02

First, I downloaed via torrent, installed, ran the updater, ran the game: OpenAL missing

Then I read on the forums here. First, I tried the thing in the sticky, but hey, I'm using 4.02 not 4.01, so ofc it didn't work.

Then I followed a link in this thread to another thread. That thread linked to http://www.psmirror.org/ where i downloaded the client (again)

Uninstalled the game, installed it from the new downloaded client, ran the updater (nothing to update), ran the game: OpenAL missing

I have no idea if what i've done is not a clean install, but if not, could you clarify what "unclean" business I'm doing?

I had to run the updater many times before it finally downloaded the OpenAL32.dll. Keep trying, it should work in the end.

is that running the updater with or without the CheckIntegrity option ?

and to those that feel downloading the dll would help then google brings up loads of links

I've tried both now, still not working. Anyway, wasn't it the 4.01 help topic that suggested that option? I'm using 4.02, which is said above should work ... which it doesn't.

Agree with Mordraugion: if it's still not working, google the DLL and put the file in the same folder like your PlaneShift installation (at least this is how it is on my Win XP).

And I'm still curious what message you get from the updater when it still doesn't work after 50 times? Exactly the same message over and over?
