System of belief/disbelief Poll
« on: November 13, 2008, 04:04:34 pm »
Just trying to get a feel for where the belief lies TODAY

This has been done previously in various ways.

The discussion is to be kept friendly. Please do not attack each other.

We are open to ideas on how to enhance the fun of having a faith in character.

More detail on the practices and beliefs of different religions would help. What makes a believer in Laanx different from a believer in Talad? I was working on something to submit but it was wiped along with my client a month or so ago when my computer decided that it really hated me.
I suggest the statue of Laanx gets turned into a statue of Parallo <3. An NPC could never replace the huge hole he left in my heart when he died  :'(

My main worships Dakkru... mainly becuase of past RP events that I was part of when I first started. I had always liked the idea of Dakkru but i really would like more information on each of the religions, becuase at the moment other than the "Big 3" they arent used in RP

*Big 3 =Laanx, Talad, Dakkru

Team Fortress 2 FTW!

Blackflame is involved heavily in rp. The followers just don't tell you about it.

My primary character is not religious, but not exactly an 'atheist'. She doesn't like Laanx or Dakkru, and never cared much for Talad. I'm basically just waiting for the events of her life to push her in Xiosia's direction at some point right now, as that's the path that makes the most sense for her.

That's not possible...

It is when you use Laanx as a cover for public eyes.

That still doesn't mean he worships Laanx. It's just a mask.

I don't understand the "All" option.  The impression I have of the gods in Planeshift is that they're jealous, and don't want you to worship other gods besides themselves.  I'd actually be happy to learn that I've been wrong all this time.

I think only Laanx and Talad are jealous of each other. The way I see Xiosia and Dakkru, they're like "sub-gods" that can be worshipped along with the greater gods. For example, if you're a rich merchant who sells exotic fruits, you'd probably be a follower of both Laanx and Xiosia.

I definitely use Laanx as a cover up.
But I put it since it's the one most people are more familiar with me referring to.

I like Laanx.  The crazy little she-he is actually interesting... if a bit confusing.  Talad, Xiosia, Ol' Flamey and Dakkru all seem a bit overdone...  You're always going to see the basic archetypes of good guy, bad guy, life, and death.  It feels too much like every other fantasy game.  Laanx on the other hand is kind of like the mythological deities of yonder days, what with the wrath and the mental instability and the unacknowledged evil and such.

Farren unwittingly, not quite 'follows' Xiosia, but instead, happens to work towards the same goals. He does not worship Xiosia as a deity, he serves Xiosia as a protector of nature. He doesn't say prayers, doesn't actively worships Xiosia, but does serve her with his own goals, and basically runs parallel to her. Very hard to really explain.

I have other characters that worship other deities, including a Black Flame follower that would be the last person you'd expect (aside from maybe Farren :P). I do not have a Dakkru follower or even a Talad folllower, but I do have one or two Laanx followers.

Also, Kedhran: Laanx is, or at least was, one of the most 'followed' gods at one time in PS, until they came out with Dakkru and Xiosia. Everyone wanted to be different and follow the new goddesses. I on the other hand simply played my character as he was :) Farren is a ranger, almost always has been (I made the Rangers of Yliakum guild a couple months after joining PS) and he protects nature (as a whole, not every little blade of grass and every little critter scampering around in that grass :P). He hasn't changed in that respect, simply a new goddess has been added that his goals tend to serve the interest of. If someone claims they are going to attack Xiosia, he may be concerned, but only because he considers Xiosia to be nature itself. Often, he's not really too afraid since he doubts an average person can do very much to nature without getting themselves killed.

bilbous does not worship any god except one who personally forces him to do so. This has not happened yet nor is it likely anytime soon.
