Wow, Akkaido, is that envy? No seriously. Did I criticise the selection of the jury? Can't remember that. I never said the -whole- event was senseless, I pointed out aspects of it. A character can not be a godmodder, and you know nothing about his motives. Neither do you know anything about godmodding, as godmodding would have been if I said "Tolian is now in the jury". Btw, read some books about history. Stocks were invented almost a millenium ago ;). And as Rennaj said, I, the player, can criticise something without my character being affected. If you want, I'll explain these things to you in detail, Akkaido. I'm always glad to help out people like you :)

No, you pointed out that you believe that GMs have, in the past, used OOC means to turn events in the direction of their choosing, and that you believe they will do it again. You said it here...

[Will this be an event with open outcome? Or is the storyline fixed so that GMs will interfere OOC wise once things get out of hand like in certain other events?]

This strongly implies that many GM events have foregone conclusions that cannot be changed by player participation and will be enforced by the event holders in OOC ways. This is incorrect. There are indeed scripts for each event, but events often go off-script due to clever and unexpected plot twists that the players themselves have come up with. This series is a prime example of that. There was every expectation that the players would kill Jinil. As a group they decided they did not want to and came up with an excellent alternative. The GMs, on-the-fly, scrapped everything they had planned to say and do and supported the players' alternative instead. This happens often in GM eventing.

There ARE times when OOC methods (such as warn or kick) are used on a player in an event. There are also times when OOC methods are used on a player OUTSIDE an event. If a player is being disruptive to the gameplay of others, in an event or out of it, the GMs are trained to end the disruption. This is one of their jobs.

And as Rennaj said, I, the player, can criticise something without my character being affected.

Yes, you absolutely can. The two are not necessarily equivalent. Perhaps the questions directed to you in this thread may simply be the result of awkward timing. Donari made some critiques. A while later Donari does some char development on Tolian, showing Tolian's tendency towards some darker behaviors. Perhaps some folks have tied the two events together a bit more closely than you intended.

Yet more constructive event feedback would be great, so the next event can be even better. Thanks, all of you!

Me? Envious?

Such a stupid, self centred arrogant comment is only further evidence that your style of RP centres solely around yourself.

There are extreme anti-RPers, so we need extreme pro-RPers, and vice versa. Extremists are everywhere, face it, take it!xD
Akkaido, chill, Donari, keep it lower at times, even I got annoyed by you sometimes;)

A valid question, no reason to bash anyone about outering such.

Not having participated these series, from what I have read, this event must have been some pretty nice one, regarding organization as well as by content. Congrats o/

The problem with that question is we are being publically accused of something we did not do and if we are going to do it again. As have been said by myself and others the players decided the direction of events. The outcome of the of the trial was not fixed. The jury was made up of players and not gm. They had a good discussion about which way to vote. If they had decided not guilty we would have gone with it.
Beware the grue.

Excellent work guys! I wish I could've been there!

Donari: As you should know, since this has been explained before and since you've had the chance to work behind the scenes yourself, events flow based on the decisions reached by the party of characters as a group. That means that in order to get the event to change directions, a single character has to first convince the party before even considering convincing the NPCs/GM chars. Talking straight to the NPCs or GMs ignoring what the group wants will not work. We ignore that kind of "realism" simply because the main purpose of events is to entertain as many players as possible and letting a player hijack the event goes against that (and by "hijack" I mean someone singlehandedly changing the story with no regard of other players involvement -from being able to follow it to understand what's going on to allowing their characters to react to their attempts).

I hope that clears any doubts but feel free to ask away if you got any more questions. We'll be happy to explain it all in detail. We're always glad to help out people like you as much as we're glad to help people not quite like you.

Again, great work fellas!

I never accused you to fix the outcome of the trial. My question was based on past events where players where /impersonated to make the storyline progress the way the GM team wanted.

Every event is seperately organised and run, so just because one event requires OOC intervention to keep it under control, it does not mean the next event will be played in such a manner. Also, what evidence is there that the GMs had to resort to such a method? And was such action justified, because in my opinion it can be. In the recent events, there was a point in time where I wished a certain player (not you Donari/Tolian) would let other players RP with the rogues by the lake... and it led to a huge fight with the rogues (which I backed off from and refused to partake in).

Donari, this wasn't a GM event, it was a series of events brought to us by the Settings developers. You must realise that this is THEIR story to tell, and we are all here as citizens of Yliakum to watch and help our authority-figures.

It is our story, since everyone is a part of Yliakum. If you want to tell -your- story, you should go and write a book :P

I think it is more like Yliakum is the developer's playground and they are nice enough to let us play there.

Actually, we are mere citizens. The people who run Yliakum, who have all the say are not out of line for putting you back in line. It's how society works IRL, and therefore is what should be emulated in RP.

I think it is more like Yliakum is the developer's playground and they are nice enough to let us play there.

She's pretty spot on. If you wanna have it as your playground, join the dev team!
