about the new monsters, to be read over by devs please
« on: February 06, 2010, 07:44:34 am »
ok so i have a theory abou the loot problem the new monsters are having
im not completely sure how you put the new monsters in so icant be completely right
but my theory is
that the , well
the new monsters i've been killing have been placed in the same spot as old monsters, they have replaced them in the EXACT same spots
i think you saved the monsters over the old monsters
and thats why the loot is the same
for example in the sewer there is a rogue that has rat loot becuase it was saved over where a rat used to be
and the is a velnishi on oja road, that has ulber loot becuase it was saved over an ulber, there is a clacker with trepor loot becuase it was saved over a trepor
i just hope my theory can help you fix it in some way
positive coments plz thanks

well I just smited the velnishi on oja road ( ulber in the past ) and received a chain set of mail, never got that from an ulber?, so I guess they're working out the loot/mob issue

To keep consistent it will be nice if ALL npc complaints or suggestions end up here until the re-deployment is done. We'll be adding more and fixing what is there for the next....forever... so feel free to pile your issues up here.

Ok, with the sipder things where the tref feild near Oja was and most monsters I find, they almost never drop loot, I killed about 30-40 of them and only got one item, truthfully it sold for not much and I realised I am better off being a noob killing rouges in Oja seeing how I get much more tria that way, and I know they are trying to get people to group up to kill things, but I find that rare loot while group killing does not work well on that it makes it even more not likely you get anything other than very few pp, and I am sure the other problem with mobs being too powerful comes to most of us too, on that I have maxed armor and half maxed weapon, I can't do ANY dammage but yet one hit takes me down 10% easy....

The more specific you can give the better, so Weapon skill level, weapon Q, physical stats Armor skill and Armor Q. Also note the specific mob name you are having trouble with.

I am a little worried about encouraging a lot of group killing. In other games I have played, this has resulted in very bad feelings between players when special items drop and only one person can have them. Also, with the  random generation of who rolls high for the loot, then it is possible for one person to be getting multiple good items and others in the group getting none.  The easy answer is, share. However, that idea is not so easily implemented. I have seen many friendships and guilds shattered by the principle of lots of group killing. Just sharing my experience from other games that put a high emphasis on group killing.
Don't godmod me and we'll get along fine.

Agree here 100% - especially because area loading, lagging and such can easily screw up any kind of group tactic there might be... and - how many players are on? 50 (at good times) - how many of those are likely to be well known enough to my character to group up with him (besides the occasional guild mate, but those might either have similar problems or be in a completely different level)?
So, this "recommendation" that arrived from Rigwyn (I think it was you...?) is well-meant, but not applicable.

Certain mob levels have to be removed (not weakened, removed!) from a couple areas again - lower level characters need some "training ground" for their combat-oriented skills. Not only because one easily gets sick of only rogues and rats (and just shortly ago those rogues were too tough - now I can get them if I soup up magically, but it is still sometimes tough), suddenly there was a Jade clacker... how am I supposed to survive that? And regarding choice of opposition, I might want something else (did it ever occur to you that you liked encountering a tetu in the sewers? well I did, it was a different opponent I could beat it, I even got a useful part for a quest...).
Last time... really, just entered the sewers, and had a Thunder clacker on one side and a wrath rat on the other... far tougher characters have problems with those... and when they invade loading zones, you have free tickets to Dakkru because of nonsense...

so, please balance this, urgently!
