planeshift installer won't execute

Where did you try to run it from?
If you try to run it from "My Documents" or any of it's children your OS won't let you.

I tried to run it from C:\Planeshift

The only reason i can see for it not working is that uninstall.exe wouldn't work so i just deleted everything instead.
I hadn't had any problems with the installer before this.
But then why didn't uninstall work?

Are you using the correct version? ie. are you using the 32 bit windows file "PlaneShift-v0.5.3.exe" (assuming that you don't have a 64 bit OS)

If you are then all I can suggest is that your file permissions are messed up...

I'm using 32 bit windows version with 32 bit processor and windows os.
How do i see if file permissions are messed up and how do i fix it?

The only thing I can think of is some left over files can someone please list all the places that plane shift would have files in on windows.

I'll list a couple of the places:

\program files\planeshift          (main program, art, etc)
\documents and settings\<user>\application data\Planeshift      (configuraton and logs)

there are other locations if you compiled it yourself, probably under ...\development\planeshift

But i already deleted those files so it must be something else causing the problem.
Anyone have any ideas.

I've deleted everything I could find to do with plane shift turned of my computer for about half an hour and am now downloading v0.5.3.

That didn't work so now i've reformated my computer and ps is working.
