mach dragon
« Reply #150 on: January 04, 2004, 02:10:41 am »
this could be like a super rare monster that could be the ultimate task of an animal trainer.  it could be in a very high lvl place (probably above ground) and very hard to find (have to find some kind of secret passage deep in a dungeon, fight very hard monsters, then find it) and a warrior could kill it, but depending on how animal trainers will work they will probably have to weaken it first in battle (because of its power it cannot be tamed without showing it who\'s boss first :)) what i think would be kool would be if the dungeon its in is like a mountain, and you fight it on the peak or on a ledge or something (since it flies during battle)
difficulty:very hard
physical traits; huge, aerodynamic blue dragon, has great wings for greater force in flying. has small legs due to the fact it normally is in the air.
physical combat: flight (it fly through the battle, making it hard for anything but ranged to attack until it gets close to you, could be possible to jump on its back until it bucks you off) dragon claws, dive (flies high into the air and nose dives you (if you are on a flying mount you might get knocked off)
magical combat: gust breath (breathes powerful winds, may knock you off your mount) mach drive (finishing move, if your under 10% health he can use it, you are magically forced into the air, then he flies straight through you at very high speed ripping through your body)
mount abilities: once tamed it can use all of its previous skills for you in battle, also has mach flight, which slowly drains its sp but causes it to fly at very high speeds, getting you where you want to be fast.

First of all, it is not an original idea. Dragons are over-used creatures in all types of games, and Planeshift is a game that will have unique atttributes. Such as monsters.

The combat seems reasonable to me. It doesn\'t have any especially Uber effects, in any case.

Perhaps a more detailed description of the dragon could be used. All I see is a classic-looking dragon, with blue scales, small legs, and huge wings. Claws come in with the legs, but I assume the dragon has arms. Also, the head could use some description - Does its snout have any special attributes? Does it have a horn? Does it have any especially weak spots along its body, such as behind the wings?

I think that you may want to change the general outline of the monster to a more original form. I mean changing the form from a dragon to something more original, prefarably of your own imagination. Of course, you could base your new creature off your \"Mach Dragon\" attributes, but I doubt that dragons will be seen at all in Planeshift.

Name:

Vlem

Physical Appearence:

A Vlem usually is small and thin. The skin is the color of clay or rock. Vlem usually stay hidden in shadow, and so the most people see of these creatures are either quick flashes of gray and browk. Vlem are roughly humanoid in appearence, as in two arms, a head, torso, and two legs. No tails are known to exist on Vlem. It is believed that the eyes of Vlem glow in darkness, though what color exactly they glow is unknown for certain. Vlem also have thick claws on their hands as well. Most travelers usually see a flying rock coming their way before falling unconscious.

Attack Style:

Vlem, being in the fragile state they are in, prefer to use ranged attacks against melee. They throw rocks, and run away. Vlem are normally peaceful creatures unless someone comes with either a bright light, the Vlem is threatened, or the Vlem is hungry. If cornered and no stones are to be had, the Vlem will claw and bite at the assailant, either knowing or unknowing what they were doing.

Magic

It is unknown whether Vlem use magic to a great degree, but it is known they do use magic. They use magic to create solid energy balls when no other alternative for getting rid of someone is seen, or use magic to heal. That is the extent of knowledge on the Vlem\'s expertise on magic.

How about a huge jellyfish-type creature? It could be water-dwelling or can be a flying. Maybe when you kill it, the tentacles could seperate, then you\'d have to kill them individually.

Name- The raven of The Morrigan
History- The Morrigan was a Celtic goddess and had many guises one of them was the raven that would fly over the battlefield and land on the dead.
Takes to kill- Any one but the loot is deadly.
Loot- Death for if you kill this bird it brings only death.
Appearance- A black raven flying or landing on a dead man/woman.
Magic- One of the Morrigan guises was a giantess clothed all in black for fighting. But unless the devs want her as part of a quest then in her raven form no magic.
Benefit- If you see a raven flying over head then you know a battle will be started soon..

Once again, please suggest original and new ideas. Such ideas probably have not been thought of before, and unoriginal ideas have probably been thought of for over 100,000 times.

Name :

Cave Shifter

Physical Appearence:

The Cave Shifter looks like a robed bat with longer legs and no wings. It has claws, as well as sharp fangs. The main colors are brown and black, and they shift around on the creature, giving it no definite color. However, the colors are always shifting in the main, dark colors of brown, black, and gray. This is part of its name.

Attack Style:

The Cave Shifter usually lashes out with its claws or fangs, and then vanishes behind the opponent. The Shifter is a deadly opponent, as one cannot be sure of where the Shifter will disappear to next. The Shifter is actually not that powerful, but it can give the appearence of being so by popping up where least expected. Sometimes.

Magic :

The Shifters only known magical power is to shift between two different areas. They are only able to do it for a short distance (5 meters at max.), and it has been proved that they will immediately start a retreat once their power is nearly exhausted.

Could there be monsters that they are not aggresive like they dont attack if they dont get attack so they just walk around? So its a peaceful animal and is easier to tame.

I do not see why not. As long as such creatures add to the game instead of just taking up space. Such as having incredible healing powers or remarkable craftsmanship, or something of the sort.

Name: Ralmenta (completely random name, just a jumble of random letters)

Physical Appearence:

Ralmentas are usually 3-5 feet in height, with nimble hands and feet. They have six long fingers on their two arms and hands, and their heads are long and thin. The color of their skin is usually a pale blue, and they usually wear robes that blend in with dark caves.

Combat:

Ralmentas generally prefer to avoid combat, but when provoked, use their magical power to stun an approaching enemy. Then the Ralmenta will run away. Most Ralmentas will use any method of combat to secure them a path to run away, such as slapping with magical hands (which will stun the opponent). They are intelligent, peace-loving beings that will only knock out an enemy to run away.

Magic:

Being extremely powerful healers, Ralmentas are experts in the Brown, Crystal, and Blue Ways. They will heal anyone that is injured, and ask only for tools in return. Ralmentas will use magic to do other things, such as aiding in repairing and communication between each other.

Name: Blood Joker

Classweight: Intermediate Advanced

Physical Traits:
I\'m thinking it\'ll be around 3 or 4 feet high.

First off the monster does indeed have 2 heads. The head that looks bloody is the head of anger. When the head of anger is dominant it does physical attacks. When the head of joker comes out it looks like its happy. When the head of joker is dominant, it plays jokes on you by casting status effects and laughing at you. If you encounter on that is happy and you attack it with physical attacks causes it to get mad. But it can become happy again if you cast a healing spell of you. If you encounter one that is already mad, casting a healing spell will make it happy.

Physical Attacks: Slap, Claw Swipes, punch, blood drain.

Magical Attacks: Status Effect spells

Life/Hit Points: High
My name is NOT pronounced, \"Kway-per,\" it\'s pronounced \"Kye-per.\"

I don\'t like the idea of killer dogs, bunnies, kitties, ect.

... I want monsters to be in ps not household pets.

Newbie monsters could have week stats yet they could still be a bit more creative.
