i change the ip (to 203.81.47.74)
i change the compatibility (to 95/ME)(got xp)
i turn off the firewall
and try to connet to the server
but it says \"TIMEOUT!..................please check 4 the server is running in tech help\"

well, i changed the compatilibty, and i also did one other thing, i went to pssetup, and clicked the circle that said \"OpenGL\" and saved it, o and if one of your char\'s get linkdead problem, and you do stuff (change complatilibity and such) and try using same char, it wont work, you\'ll have to make a new char that\'s just in case no one realized it even tho i think someone already said that.. and one last thing, if it work\'s and then get \"stuck\" on opening the world, its because its kinda slow and take a while to load (take me about 3-5 mins everythime i get on ) so yea, if it gets \"stuck\" just leave it and it should work in a bit

note: great game, very nice graphix,
problems: not much to do.. only because it\'s not finished yet, and it\'s a bit laggy..

other then that this is a very very nice game, good job!

The reason you have to create a character again is because either the connection was broken between the server and your computer while it was creating your character in the database, or it never did connect in which case you should be able to use the same name but will have to create a new account. The word on the street is that the longer you spend creating the character (like going through custom creation) the greater the probability of the error. several of your tips are common knowledge to people on these forums, and most  everything MB setup and character creation related has a n answer in Gronomist\'s Step By Step Guide to running Planeshift MB (stickied in this forum).

I downloaded the files, reassembled them, created a character and loged on. The only problem was that it was -very- laggy. People suggested I go and run the updater. Well I did that and now every time it goes to start loading the world, just as the music starts, I get \'client performed an illegal action\' message and it shuts down. Know how to fix this problem?

Anyways.. Check where you installed planeshift.. There should be a file in that folder named psclient.exe.. Right click on it, choose properties and check around in the window that opened. There should be an option where you can choose compatibillity mode.
