how are you supposed to change the ip adress? I\'m not exactly a computer expert so somebody please help me. i need somebody to tell me the steps to change this so the ip adress.

ok getting mad!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRR
first off i kept getting the linkdead message so i changed it from name to number ip. now i get the database error. i have changed the compatibility also from win95 to win 98/me. still no luck still database error. i am running xp pro as my OS & yes i have all the updates that are available. i am running zone alarm as my firewall and nortons anti-virus 2005 for virus protection. i have tried disabling firewall to no availe. the firewall has been configured to accept all aspects of the game but i still get errors.
second; please delete thorur & bangal as neither of them will log on with out errors. i have done both custom & quick creation neither of them work.
  I am all out of ideas PLZZZZZZZ help!!!!!!!

*sigh* SEARCH DAMNIT SEARCH!

If you get an linkdead error, that will create an invalid database entity for your account, therefor:
Linkdead -> Invalid account on the server

Since you seem to need training in searching, i won\'t tell you have to remove linkdead accounts

You managed to get this far and then you failed miserably...  failing to even read the two most recent posts on this very thread! It\'s a shame.
Edit: as Androgos\' post was somewhat cryptic, I\'ll translate it: you have to remove your invalid accounts yourself, and the way to do it can be found on this forum by searching.

I tried all the above suggestions (compatibility, IP address) and turned off my virus software (this stopped some of the crashing) and turned off my firewall. Still linkdead. I tried a ton of times.  Finally I got it to work. So if you did all the stuff above and you\'re still linkdead try this.

You have to get a character name first try. If it comes back and tells you that name is taken close PS and start all over. This was the only thing that worked.

yea I have been playing for a week, and all of a sudden last night I kept going linkdead and now I can\'t get on the server it says fail everytime.  I tried all the above solutions but none worked, and also how can you input the IP instead of the text IP on the new PS client?

how do I convert the DNS to the IP address? I don\'t know much about computers, so if you can explain it in a way that I could understand that would be great. Most of you guys are getting a lot farther than me even. I can\'t connect to the server and create a char. it either says that stupid linkdead thing, or it says that my password is incorrect (Which it isn\'t) I even changed my pass a few times and it still would say that.. I changed the properties of the psclient to 98/me and so far that hasn\'t done anything, so I guess i\'ll try converting the DNS to the IP address if someone tells me how.

I want to play this game but that sever has been down for a week and i am not able to get on anyway it says YOU HAVE HAD A UNEXPECTED ERROR  and then it says do you want to save the dionostic and if you say now it like freezes and if you clikc yes it saves it to something that doesnt exist i really want to play but it is not working if anyboty could help me i would be so deeply grateful i would put in a good word about tis game to everyone i know
