How do i change the ip of the game?

Hello everybody,

i hope there are not to many people who posted this before.

I started planeshift the first time today and i like it pretty much.

At first i also got the \"linkdead\" message. Then i notice, that i didn?t set the /etc/hosts file correct. I had to enter my IP - address (using DSL and a network card) and my hostname in it and just did the trick.

I finished downloading planeshift today, and I\'ve been having a lot of problems..
I custom created my first account, and got linkdead. I tried a few more times, and had other errors.
I custom created another account, and it started to connect, but then my computer crashed.
I tried two more times with the second account, and it usually froze the window or crashed my computer.
I made a third account, this one quick created (I noticed that in the end of quick create, when I tried to customize the looks of my character, no picture showed up..) Started to connect on this one, window froze. Tried again, computer crashed.
I ran the updater, then tried loading again..
I found that if I open another window over the loading planeshift, that froze the planeshift window.
5:02-
Tried to connect, screensaver came up at 5:03 and froze the planeshift window.
5:11-
Started to connect, it was on \"initializing world\" at 5:13, when I got an illegal operation message.
I\'m on 56k dialup, and running windows 98. I can\'t get broadband, I live on a mountain, and they won\'t bring the wires up.
I really need help, I\'ve wanted to play this game for a few months, ever since I first saw the webstie (I was on a computer that couldn\'t handle the game size, but I recently got a new one.)

Ok.... Now how do i do it.. i entered the server and it still don\'t work... how do u change the compatibility? I DONT GET  IT

I\'m also a newbie to this game and got the linkdead message but got past that.  I created my char and tried to log on and got this message:

\"The server is not running or is not reachable. Please check website or forums for info.\"

Anyone else got this and is the server up.. or is this part of another problem?

Griever, check planeshift.fragnetics.com  There you can see if the server is online or not.

I did check the server.. It shows up.  But I still cant get in.  Could this be part of another problem?

First let me say I would love to try your game and see what its all about.  The idea is great... But  I have been trying to connect to the game for the past 2 days and always get that the server is down or not responding.  I had my brother who is also a tech for a cable company come over and take a look to see if the problem was at my end.  He did a trace to see where along the way the problem is at and found that the game server is the one who is timing out when the trace reaches the pacific coast..  which is your address. There is either a limit as to how many people can get on and there is a firewall.. or something else is blocking when I attempt to connect with the game server.  I have a copy of it but cant seem to add it here so you can see.  Its in a text format.  If you would like me to email you what I have so you can see foryourself please let me know  then maybe you can figure out a way to stop this timing out.

first plz delete \"Klarrkin\" and \" Ragiu\"
and change the ip you give here to the right ^^
i tried and tried till i regonized with ping 203.81.47.27 that this ip doesn\'t exist and with luck i saw in the news that it was changed to 203.81.47.74

Ohh Thanks Lemo for the new ip address.  But now im getting a message that something is wrong with my database of my account.  What does that mean and how can I correct it?  Anyone out there know?

I got everything working and it was loading, then after waiting like 15 minutes I got an error, it said this exactly, \"The instruction at \"0x01062aa4\" referenced memory at \"0x00000a74\". The memory could not be \"written\".\". It was an Application error, and I have no idea what to do now. Anybody know how to fix this?

Everything works fine until this morning but now, when I try to connect, after some initilization, nothing happens more and the console output shows only an endless stream of

CheckLinkDead: Sending heartbeat message 1 to server....
 
Is it related to the DeadLink problem? Has someone the same problem? Has someone fix it?

Characters Noctu and Darkened please. both are linkdead.

[zORN]

Please delete the following chars:

- Belgard
- Zarul
- Zaruk
- Asgadon

... these are all linkdead chars of mine
