hmm... it says your account is valid. It can\'t be removed.

Pardon if this is at all outlandish of me..  But it seems that it would be prudent to Include a LinkDead check before Character creation..

Also, I\'m not sure this is the right place, but I\'ll post it anyway, I think the Default Launch icon in the start menue should point to a script that will Check for updates with a \"--silent\" switch to check for updates, Then download any if nesecary, then after all that start the client.

Came here \'cause I got a linkdead error, Posted this, Tried some of the fixes, Made a new Character.  The Quickie creation workses, the Custom creation Didn\'t workses.  I\'m of a mind to share the oppinion that that is possibly at least part of the cause..  *considders goin\' by sourceforge and mucking thru code to see*  This thing is on Sourceforge, right ?

invalid accounts can be deleted here
if your account isn\'t invalid, you can just use it to play with or leave it there, the whole database will be wiped in a few months anyways.

I get the linkdead error, I am networking with 5 different computers, but i dont have a FireWall. In my SystemTray...No Firewall.

How else will i be able to connect?  I changed the compatibility to 98/me. WTF?

check/let someone check for you if port 13331 is opened for UDP, this is the port PlaneShift uses to communicate to the server, it has to be opened or you can\'t play.

Hey ProToMaN,
you mentioned that you were running on a network with 5 computers.... so you are most likely behind a router.  Router\'s have built in firewalls, so you have to open port 13331 for UDP on the router.

This is done by accessing the settings on your router.  Usually by typing in its internal IP adress in the adress bar of your browser.  (You\'ll have to check the number in your router manual).  Usually the number is something like 192.168.#.#

Then you have to log into your router, (again you will have to check the manual for this info - default is usually admin for username, no pass; or no username admin for password)

Then you will have to find in the settings either port forwarding tab, or games/security tab, etc.  Something along those lines will allow you to specify which port you need to open.  Then you type in port 13331 and select UDP for it.  Then you will have to type in the IP address for your computer (again this will show up in one of the tabs on the router settings, showing the IPs of all computers connected to it) corresponding to this open port and everything should work fine

but when i went back to play the game after an
HOUR the same old message came out......

ok i found a way to get past the linkdead error, but the only problem is, its for the linksys router only.

Heres what i did: i went to the linksys website, downloaded the latest firmware i could find. Installed it, then went into my router config, changed it to get ip automaticaly. went into forwarding, made the first line(where it asks for the ports) i put 0~13331, then click tcp and udp set it to my ip on the router, clicked enable, then went and tried to play the game again. this time i made a character and go into the world. everything works fine. hope this helps anyone with a linksys router.
