A wedding and a lot of funerals - almost...
« on: October 02, 2011, 10:34:52 am »
Oh, boys, that party was quite a disaster... We were just in the middle of the wedding for Roled and Lattia when everything went mayhem.

Did you discover what actually happened? The first I saw was Mordas killing Mordaan, out of the blue ... and then ... everything head over heels.

I've heard it was a sly scheme of some thugs and those who betrayed others trust. Someone made a group, that declared war on some other guild (which included murderers as I understood). Then they misled others to join that group. It gave killers the ability to attack anyone in that group outside the pvp zone. Morale - don't join groups without knowing who you are dealing with. Though in this case it was a sly social engineering, obviously planned in advance.

Interesting plot.

Well, in-character this will certainly lead to formally lodging a complaint against involved people.  :sweatdrop:

Unfortunately my slumber is legendary... I dreamed of swords, though... when I woke up there was no one around, except some big blood stains on the ground, even the water seemed darker than usual. How nice.

Technically, this is somewhat interesting.
I never found group-challenge useful in the way it currently works,
and abusing it for harassing a wedding party is something new.

I thought that group was suspicious.   ;)

First he killed Heolion and Onilise.  I voiced surprise at what was happening and that's when I got it.

Honestly, it's more realistic in that no one is going to ask you permission before you they attack.  It's game mechanics and anti-abuse measures which makes that necessary.  This was a clever way around that.

Yes, the down side is I will be much more suspicious of any groups in the future.

Made for an interesting event though.

Were the murderers killed by the way, or they got away?

I had two characters at that RP:  Teshia, my main who was murdered, and Lattia, yup I'm the other gay elf boy.  ;)

Speaking from a strictly RP standpoint, I had no problem with the actions undertaken by first Mordas and secondly Kisoji.  I found it to be an entertaining and unexpected surprise.  I give you villains props for being truly villanous and doing what a real bad guy would do, by picking a time when guards were down.

My only concern is that if you are going to trick people into joining a group so you can decimate them unwittingly, be willing to accept multiple challenges at once.  I know for a fact Kisoji was open to that, as he let me run up and smack him, but I heard Mordas wasn't taking more than one opponent at a time.  Let's be reasonable... If you come in and murder a passle of dwarves, they aren't going to wait and take you on one on one.

That being said, again, I have no issues atall with the RP of it, and thought it was fun.  I've been hoping for a while that someone [ANYONE] would come up and mess with one of my characters.  Most of the bad guys are persecuted relentlessly and run off.  Let's be happy that they are poking their heads up and doing something! It's not easy being evil!  :flowers:

And incidentally... Kisoji killed Mordas, and was later killed by Caraick.

This sounded quite fun. Although, If I had attended, I would have been killed in an instant!

Shouldn't ANY kind of RP be agreed by both sides before it starts? This is just harrassing for me, and abuse of mechanics. Also, doesn't respect at all the "fun to play" policy".

Gen,  With group RPs, it's hard to make sure every single person involved is agreeable to every possible outcome.  It also tends to make the RP too structured for some people's enjoyments.  I think if you're going to mug a single person, that you should work out the logistics of how you are going to play that, dying, etc.  But for a group like this, I think it was fine.

I'm sure Roled will come in and give his opinion when he has the time.

You can't agree on unexpected attack. However it is an abuse of mechanics, which in turn are totally unrealistic anyway.

Doesn't matter if it is a group RP. If I was running an event, I would be pissed off if people started dying in the middle of it (and also, I wonder what kind of RP is, killing random people at a marriage). I do believe that if this game is supposed to be fun, these things should be agreed before the event.

Now, I wasn't present, but things like this are getting common, and I don't like it at all. Not only people get killed without knowing, but there aren't even valid RP reasons for it. Harassment with a RP mask, this is.
