Honestly, this will be the first and last time I enter this debate.
This is simply boring me and annoying me. Why do you even care about these things ? Treat them as possible, and don't limit yourself to useless systems. What's fun in Roleplaying ? Inventing stuff all the time.
IRL when you are doing a RP game with friends, do you ask the GM if you have the right to do something all the time ?
What I'm trying to say (because I'm not always clear), is stop being pissed off by useless things like that and assume it's possible. It's OUR roleplay. And everyone can change it how he likes.

Wasn't that the point of this thread? At least I thought it was.
It's a game. It's not real. I play to relax.

You have a good point, J, even though I disagree with one main aspect.  I agree with your philosophy and I like it.

I was meta-mewing - if you read that thread, you will see that it is not an argument about same-sex marriage, that old thorn in my side in Yliakum.  It's about carrying out RP without undue interference/harassment.

That's all.  That's my big mew  :'(  This whole thread is just for that.  Which somehow Minks caught onto right away.

But reasons we play are interesting to me....to relax, mm?  I guess that goes for me too.

But there have been times of very high stress, back with the group I used to play with (ALL GONE, super MEW) in late 2008/2009, and heightened emotions, all of that was awesome, just awesome.  Tons of life lessons in there.  So, for me, relaxing, but also interspersed with drama, emotion, and engagement.  Much of that is not relaxing at all, and I loved it.

EDIT:  So what I mean is, if you are looking to relax and you see one of my chars, RUN by the gods run the other direction

*makes himself small*
Well... Err... You're right on this point then.
I understand the choice of the GMs in interfering on the RP. But understanding doesn't mean that I approve. Even if the RP wasn't good, since it's not breaking the rules, there is no reasons for it being stopped.
*makes himself bigger again*
Why are we playing ? Should open a thread on that, and think about that. Seems interesting.

Good idea :)

I am still busy mewing, since this is the mewing thread.  Although maybe I'll make an actual "mew" thread for anyone who needs a good cry.  The title of this one sounds like a combo sad/despairing thread.

If you don't understand why this is such a big deal, then try running an event.  If you have done that or have a had similar experience, then it shouldn't be too hard to understand.

Some of us put a lot of time and thought into our events. To have all that work trashed and to have the event fall apart is rather frustrating.

Deliberately disruptive and innocently inexperienced players can be difficult to work with, but its not that difficult for an experienced player. There are ways to cut out the disruptive player, and ways to support the newbie player. In this case, getting around a gm who cannot separate ic from ooc (or who perhaps simply made a mistake)  is a bit more challenging.

Worst of all, there are very few players who take the initative to entertain us with their events and story lines. If you discourage the few who take this initative, then you end up with nothing happening in the game. When that happens, everyone is affected.

Extremely discouraging.  Lowers the numbers and I care about the numbers.  Other threads, with people suggesting and/or asking for improvements (cdmoreland with armor leveling questions and suggestions comes to mind, valid point he has too, especially with the comment about crafters having a better time of it and the outcry from serious oldbies/dedicatos should that system be overhauled in the same way as armor, when leveling just stops), also have devolved into discouragement for players.  I don't want to see this place fail.  But the old legends have gone, the younger old legends have gone, my era of legends have gone (2009), maybe there will be a new era.  I don't think it will happen with these kinds of interactions.  There are some still hanging about, may they play on (Roled, Evirea, some few others, stick it out no matter the numbers, I applaud them, I'm out for the moment myself but intend very much to be back).
