Tried to play this game....
« on: June 30, 2003, 01:00:56 am »
But after several linkdead characters (5 of which were created after doing all the supposed \'fixes\') I give up. 3 days of my life went into downloading, getting error, redownloading, annoying graphic problems that made it so i couldnt see anything but three gems-yellow red and blue, then spending all that time creating uncreateable characters.... For the staff of this game, you need to start actually working on this game and not just twiddling your thumbs.... I understand your trying to create a free game, I appreicate that, but its not a very free game when we can\'t play it.....

then you should read as it says it is not a full game yet before the download links.  obviously still being in a pre-alpha phase there will be a hella lot of things to deal with.  but hey if everyone else is on its not our fault you can\'t fix anything for three days.  or your comp might just suck. yeah it sounds as if im being rude but its not right to tell people what to do when their offering a free service and it clrealy states to bear with them.  so if you\'ve got a problem then leave,, but we all know when the game is out you\'ll come crawling back to play

Ur logic sounds great in theory tough guy.... A) Bearing with them means dealing with problems WITHIN the game, not problems just to get in the friggen game. Cant tolerate the games problems when I\'ve yet to play the game. B) If we were in the 4th grade I\'d say something like my computer can beat your computer up, but we\'re not so i\'ll just say- my computer could run 5 versions of planeshift at the same time and still be downloading a 30 minute porno movie off grokster. C) I really understand and commemerate them for attempting to create a free MMORPG, but the linkdead thread with its 12 pages of error inflicted (as you would call us) crybabies proves why guys with less then professional programming skills can\'t create a MMORPG without charging a reasonably acceptable monthly fee (I\'ve played majority of pay MMORPGs and this one still sounds 3 times better then them). and D) Why would I came crawling back to an error infested heap of stress inducing graphical dung? Maybe if I got a taste of the game, I might be singing a different tune. Im just very frustrated having given this game the benefit of the doubt (Im always sceptical about free games) then having been jerked around with \"Welp its a problem we just can\'t fix!\" what is that? They call them problems, because they have solutions, in my opinion they are just saying ahh well the 45% who can\'t play don\'t deserve to play. I know for a fact the problem is not on my end. I mean no disrespect to the makers/affilates of this game, I really hoped to play it, but it seems im a casuality of this game\'s potential... Whoa is me, wah, and the whole nine yards... Move on me, move on... But i wanna kill things and level up.. no no no, thats not god\'s plan for you, go buy a first person shooter and be satisfied for 2 weeks. Congradulations to anyone who didn\'t say \"Damn this guy wrote a book\" and made it to this... the conclusion.. (and probably my last post if the mod\'s didn\'t like my tone).

The game is pre-alpha... you can\'t expect it to be bug proof... and there isn\'t really much to do in game atm, so you aren\'t missing out on anything important (if you count out helping the devs).. wait for the next release and you might get the game running..

Thanks Xal, that is, well frankly my only option ATM. Its just I seen this game close to a year ago and it still hasn\'t moved.. whats that say? I waited patiently and finally decided to jump in and see if my expertise in online games could assist them, but in my honest opinion I think this game will never get off the runway. They fix the wing and the engine goes, its too unstable (judging from all i\'ve read). Im sorry, Im just willing to bet alot of you are going to be disappointed with you\'re wasted time and effort.... to each his own though... good luck all....

well it is still in development, and atm they are just running some tests on the server, so the more people online at the time the faster the tests will go... and the more info the devs collect the better, and faster, they will be able to correct the bugs for the future release... I will wait patiently, some will not, but I hope that the game will make it for it is one hell of a great project IMO... If you don\'t feel like staying around the forum petey, then I guess I\'ll see you when the game is released :D

what?

A year ago...if you had played AB, which was released a little more than a year ago I think, you will see that Planeshift has improved by A LOT, MB has only been out, what, 4 months?

As for your expertise, well, I\'m sure PS MIGHT just be able to do without someone who can not even form readable sentences.

There are more than enough reasons to be rude.

No, no, people! She/he/it had every right to be rude- I had attempted to (in \"its\" opinion) tarnish the very foundation of a game in which \"it\" waits patiently to enjoy. I\'ve only experience minor frustration compared to those whom have sunken their nails into this game, so I feel \"its\" pain. Although \"it\" does not fully understand my quelm with this game. I seen it many moons ago when it was still in pre-beta aplha tango alpha phase three omega beta, now with much joy I re-stumble upon it. What happens to our fair narrator you ask? He is once again bombarded with asinine errors that don\'t even allow him to play (although the first time I got in and just couldn\'t play more then five minutes with out a crash, evenmore I couldn\'t move for those five minutes so I just got in, froze, then crashed). Im not gonna stand around and read the update page ever other minute for the \"Problem with the graphics melting horizontly and the blue screen of death popping up when typing the letter \"G\" fixed!\". Ima come back in 4 years when this game finally becomes a subscription fee game and is actually playable. I know, I know, You couldn\'t understand my poor punctuation/grammar and will respond with- PRE ALPHA spammed acrossed the screen.. Save it for the next guy who spills his frustration onto a message board designed to handle spilt frustration.
If and when it is released in its completion, I hope to mingle with the likes of Xalthar- thank you for your clear minded rebuttles, they stiffled the horribly pessimistic voice in my head.

I spammed pre-alpha across the screen so you would understand that the game is not finished so complains about bugs are just silly. But you STILL did not get it?? - I give up on your ability to comprehend this simple thing.

> guys with less then professional programming skills

Your level of expertise in software development was clearly revealed by your posts (zero), so please don\'t judge professionality of other people in this matter.

Every software grows slowly from bug-ridden, resource inefficient, features-lacking state to hopefully fully-featured stable efficient product. Planeshift is in the first phase. If you saw a house under construction, without windows, without plaster, without electricity, without lifts, would you say \"OMG who would ever live here ???!!! the architect and construction workers are not professionals !!\" ? No. Same with Planeshift. Planeshift devs offered the public to explore and even live a bit in their construction site. Why do you expect it to be a finished house ?
