I\'m not quite sure what I\'m going to be; probably a free-lance rogue/mercenary, seeing as how I tend to have trouble with steady employment (ie I get fired a lot).
There's a fine line between genius and insanity.

Fortunately, I have good balance.

I know that this argument has basically died, but why do people seem to think that necromancer automatically equals evil??? It\'s like for some people it becomes an algebraic equation.

if you are a necromancer, your alignment shows in the way that you handle the spirits you conjure.

as an evil necromancer, you bend the spirits to your will, forcing them to do as you wish.

there comes however, the case of the tribal shaman, speaking with the spirits of the dead, using necromantic means to communicate with the dead. If your village is attacked, is it evil to plead with the dead to rise up against those who would sack, burn and pillage your homeland, rape your women and enslave you? I think not, you are merely looking toward the good of your people.

I\'ve played more than one good necromancer, but the DMs I\'ve played under always gave me an xp penalty because I couldn\'t \"force\" the spirits to do what I wanted... personally I would think that the spirits would trust me and do as I wished willingly.

as for this game, I\'m not sure, something like an assassin I suppose, lots of stealth and backstabbing, maybe some magic, not sure bout that, probably healing spells if I do
we are the music-makers, we are the dreamers of dreams - Gene Wilder as willy wonka

Johnny Depp\'s a poser to the throne. No one will ever play the part as well as Gene Wilder

well almost every game i play that give\'s me the choice i am a dwarven cleric/ fighter heavy on the fighter usually two weapon (axe and hammer) style with just enough cleric in me  to get me thru sticky undead situation\'s.
it\'s a hard combination to play in the beginning of most game\'s  but when you start to get up in experience your char become\'s very powerfull in hand and mind  :D

but as for planeshift i think i am leaning toward\'s mercenary/weapon smith hiring out to whoever can pay  8)

Thats because most of the famous necromancers that everyone knows has at one point in time attempted to take over the world.

if you are a necromancer, your alignment shows in the way that you handle the spirits you conjure.

To be exact, a necromancer doesn\'t necessarily have to conjure spirits and talk to the dead, and raise skeletons. Yes, one part of necromancy revolves around the dead and evil things like that, however the other part of necromancy lets them to exactly as all other mage classes. They can heal, they can grant strength, they can protect. However, they just do it in a slightly diffrent way. The basics of necromancy spellcasting is by taking something from someone, and then giving it to someone else. Thus, a necromancer can take a part of someone else\'s (or his own) life force, and heal another person with it, just as well as he can take the lifeforce of another and heal himself. It\'s not what he can, that makes him evil, it\'s what he uses his powers for that makes him evil (or good).

If people let the necromancer take their life to bring someone else back from the dead, then the necromancer is doing as person\'s wish, not something bad. However, should a necromancer kill someone by stealing the person\'s soul, giving the necromancer increased strength and what-not, then the necromancer is evil. I\'m sure that is very easy to understand. :)

This isn\'t necessarily how PlaneShift works, it\'s just the simple basics of spellcasting, and according to these, any spellcaster can do anything, no matter which area he is focused on. A white mage can cause death and destruction as much as a necromancer, he will just do it in a diffrent way, and it will be much harder. A satanist can bless someone, however it is much more difficult from him than for a priest to give a blessing. What is easy for some people is very difficult for others, but it can be done.

I\'d be a lowly pickpocket who is without parents. And eventually harden and become a Mercenary. Yeah
