Fatal Error
« on: September 12, 2003, 04:50:25 am »
Hi when i try to load planeshift setup.exe it says fatal error canot create directdraw device.... i had almost the same problem acsessing the Setup in Black & White because of Direct 3d or something i think, i have a nvida g-force 4 mx 4200 64mb, i think something like that... can i post dxdiag here? and Empire Earth which also uses Direct 3d Only crashes all the time for me and sometimes freezes when i try to load it, I dont have a problem with any games that use OpenGL just Direct 3d games. The savage Beta had problems to and that was D3d i think to i dunno whats wrong it says i have d3d and i have my current nvidia drivers...

You say you have the latest NVidia drivers? Hmm, what about DirectX, what version of that do you have installed?

Hmm, that\'s really weird... I would offer a few things that I myself would try doing in your situation, but I think you\'ll be better off waiting for one of our resident techy guys to come along and give you a hand.

I guess if you want to you can search the \'Net for a tool called \"DirectX Eradicator\". It completely uninstalls DirectX from your system, allowing you to reinstall it cleanly... however, I\'m not even sure that DirectX is the cause of your D3D problems. Still, it\'s worth a try.

Well then it\'s either a driver conflict or something\'s wrong with your hardware... if only I knew anything about the subject, I could help you more. :(

I hope someone comes along and solves your problem soon. *crosses fingers*
