Getting Drunk
« on: September 23, 2003, 04:31:52 am »
Okay I know you are supposed to look through the forums first but I didnt.  There is just too many things.  Anyway as youve guessed I think we should be able to get drunk.  It would be could your view could wobble around making you go anywhich way andur character would just keep mumbling things.  And there are prob other cool things that I havent thought of that could happen.  Anyway I think it would be cool.

That\'s a great idea.... Why the heck are those pubs for if you can\'t even get drunk.... aside from maybe gambling if there\'s such a thing... or for the waitresses if any.

I think it\'ll be worth it just to see wobbly people coming out of bars.

I assumed that would be a part of it anyway. Getting drunk would be a nice effect. Maybe losing control of movement would be the effect. Any key that u press would do a random movement key, if that makes sense.

Will it be in the game, more then likely, will we spend too much time on it, not likely.

It adds little to nothing to gameplay and while fun the first couple of times, looses it?s novelty really really fast.

This of course only leaves out the ?drunken competitions and combat arena fights? but in reality we will likely just cast a really drunk spell and have those.

In EQ is was a bust after the first year and never really popular before that. If anyone has a game to say it was implemented in a great content adding and game effecting way please say so. And I am not talking redneck rampage either.

I\'d hate to see the EQ-style drunkenness, the staggering (we see enough of that, and only because of lag), the slurred speech, the shouts of \"Heeeyy lllook, Iii\'m ddrrrunnk!\".  Although, I certainly would like to see beverages that temporarily decrease some stats associated with intelligence and common sense (usually called Intelligence and Wisdom.)  These beverages wouldn\'t have any real use, other than RP aids, but wouldn\'t force you to stagger down the street or speak with slurred speech(although you\'d certainly be free to RP that.)  Sometimes, such beverages also increase strength in RPGs, but that\'s always seemed a bit stupid to me.

lol, this would just be a bit of fun, and while it wont be much fun for a old-timer, newbies will always enjoy it.

Me personal enjoy the EQ style of drunkeness. It fits in pretty good to add a little comic relief to the game.

In my first guild in EQ, one of the things they made you do when you joined was \"Drink your level\".  (If you were L20, you had to drink 20 drinks.)  :-)

It was very fun and just an excuse to get drunk together and bond a little bit through silliness.

I do agree it rapidly got boring, so it would be fun to figure out some gameplay effects drunkenness could have so that we have a reason to put it in the game.

Wonderful, I\'m all for giving people more reasons to drink, as long as you make sure you buy all your drinks from me, you can\'t trust just anyone to provide you with quality beverages you know ;)

you could set it so that people who wanted to enter berserker state at lower skill levels, would need to drink an amount of alcohol (perhaps with some other things in it  ). The vikings did so back in ye old days, and I just think it looks cool to slurp down an entire drinking horn just before battle ;) :P

LMAO, the vikings killed alot of their own when they did that as well. I think I\'m gonna stay away from any drunk person carrying a sword. :D
