Down with it!
Is there any kind of petition to sign?
I bet Mr. Gates is laughing in his fortress at the moment..
Browsing the forums when I\'m bored, nothing more.

Shouldn\'t this be under \"Evil\" thread?
It surely does make Drachion sound as nasty as a little baby...

IMHO the whole idea is really and completely unacceptable.

dorbian,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.  This is absolutely serious; they\'ve gone way too far with this secuity stuff.

[sarcasm]
But don\'t worry, I\'ll feel so much safer with Microsoft looking over my shoulder every friggin second of the day!  They\'ll guard my personal information and protect me from stuff I don\'t need!
[/sarcasm]

Not to mention you can\'t run any program that\'s not authorized.

Wannabe.
Anyway, why is everybody responding to this by insulting the Americans? We have an amendment in our constitution against this, and the country at a whole is not bad just because of Bill Gates and some other greedy computer people.
Also, even if these corperations have this power, using it would be suicide. Everybody would buy Macs.

As much as we would love to have the word \"privacy\" mentioned in our Constitution, it still doesn\'t make an appearance.  Last year in my Amercian Government class, we spent several days talking about the lack of mention of the word \"privacy\" anywhere in it; whatever privacy implied is up to to the Supreme Court.  Unfortunately for us (as we also learned in class), most of them don\'t seem to understand a great deal about computers, the Internet, etc.  In one of my issues of Computer Games Magazine, there was mention of a Supreme Court ruling that \"computer and video games do not convey ideas, and so are not protected by free speech.\"  ;(  This was later reversed, but I\'m sure you get my point.

Something like the TCPA is something that probably only advanced computer users can understand the implications of, which will be a huge problem.

That\'s because all the justices are probably old people who belong in a nursing home, not a court room.
And if there is nothing for privacy, then we should add something.
You know, my dad has been complaining that we should move to Canadia for a while now?

Well, this TCPA thing sounds pretty dangerous to the fundamental ideas of democracy.  I mean, your constitution may not specifically say it, but you certainly have a spirit of \"everyone is entitled to privacy.\"  I hope TCPA never gets passed into law.

As for moving to Canada - GREAT IDEA!  :D  Some of our laws are so much more sensible.

(Excluding the one that makes it illegal to wear a snake as a hat.  That shouldn\'t be illegal!  Let them find out the hard way!)   :P
