If ur guild recruiting is selective then it will be very dificult for the guild to except new recruits because they have their set ways and any new thoughts and idears of the new ppl will be hated and those new people will feel resented and left out, therefore causing the guild to crumble.
New blood is always needed, but it is hard to keep the guild\'s beliefs and spirit when there is too much of it. Also, like it has been said before, some guilds are according more importance to quality over quantity. One new quality member that agrees with the guild\'s principles is far more interesting and will be more motivated than 10 or 20 random people. It takes more time to evaluate, but on the bottom line it\'s worth every second spent on it.
Being selective doesn\'t mean static, or closed to the external world either. We have contacts with people we trust in other guilds and are constantly exchanging ideas with them, as well as with potential recruits we are discussing with. So we don\'t lack feedback.
New members are certainly not hated, since (in our case, but I\'m sure it\'s the case for others too) they have been accepted after a long process which ends with a vote at the Council level. Which doesn\'t mean people at the other levels are not listened to, the structure has been designed so that anyone has the right to speak
Guilds like yours...notice the like, im not saying that this will necesarily happen to you...get all powerful and look down on evryone else, this usualy in my experience causes alot of problems for guilds, especialy if they have great power, members within the guild want higher ranks and the power they have turns against them, and again the guild fails.
I\'m not sure about what you mean by looking down. In their case, it\'s part of their identity, plus they have to be cautious.
Fights over ranks can happen in any guild. From what I\'ve seen here, selective guilds have less problems with that. Big guilds with many people who don\'t know each other and care less about their guild split, have spin-offs or find some of their frustrated members being in several guilds. Finally most of them just collapse.
On a diferent subject...why are new ppl hated so much? i havnt been here for a month, not even 2 weeks yet, but i dont feel like a little n00b. ok so i asked a few lil questions about the stability of the game...but doesnt everyone?
I don\'t think they are hated, not at the ooc level in any case. Of course, I\'ve seen some people taking pleasure in making them looking ridiculous, especially in-game (I think they know who they are, and I do pity them). But usually they are well accepted and helped.
The problem is that we are used to answer the same questions thousands of times, and in most cases it is fruitless since the person will just say it\'s crap and not come back. It would be appreciated if they were looking for the answers by themselves, that\'s why sometimes, someone can get a little nervous at questions. But we know it\'s part of the game and just have to accept it.
