Nnnrgh. The music is pure love.

If you want intense, why not listen to bands like slayer, pig destroyer, nile, agoraphobic nosebleed, meshuggah... even converge and slipknot are more intense than In Flames.  In my opinion, however.

Don\'t get me wrong, I\'ve been listening to a mixture of paradise lose and melvins for the last half hour or so.  I can appreciate it from both ends.  But In Flames does live somewhere in the middle.

That\'s what I like - they\'re intense without becoming Children of Bodom (which, while I appreciate, I can\'t stand more of than half an hour at a time). There\'s a certain balance that appeals to me :)
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I don\'t like Children of Bodom either, or Manowar, or Dream Theatre,  popular as they all may be.

Have you heard anything by pig destroyer or by grind bands in the same vein as them?

I\'ve heard a few songs by Pig Destroyer whose titles currently escape me, but didn\'t seem impressed enough to form a lasting relationship with them ;) I should check out more bands too, but I\'m not likely to unless someone forces me. And for now I\'m satisfied with my current finds :D

Not impressed by pig destroyer?  No lasting impression? :-D Check out the song \"towering flesh\" if you get bored.  It\'s newer, but it\'s also one of my favourites.

Meh, about that In Flames album... I expected melo-death, not nu metal :\\
Anyway, in my opinion it\'s awful.
It seems to be really repetitive, especially in the beginning of that album.
About the music itself... Well, I felt like comparing In Flame\'s \"Take This Life\" with Mercenary\'s \"World Hate Center\", but I think it\'s like comparing rusty dagger with a shiny longsword...

\"Come Clarity\" song is ok, but it sounds like something from a generic rock band. At least when listening to it, I have a feeling like I heard it many times before.
And then there\'s that part which reminds me of a spoken part in Mercenary\'s \"Bloodrush\", and instantly I feel like switching to the latter.

maybe i ended up with the wrong song, but wasnt that song just all shouting?

the other night i went to see Franz Ferdinand and they were extremely cool. they were supported by the Editors and the Rakes who were pretty good too. so that was a great night.

band to look out for.... a group i have been listening too for a month or two now, Arctic Monkeys (seen them live as well)  http://www.dominorecordco.com/site/minisites/arctic_monkeys/am.html

and you cant say about music without including AFI, where at the moment i seem to be listening to The Art Of Drowning album alot.

Just shouting?  It\'s an extreme subgenre of death metal. :|

Don\'t get me wrong.  I love a lot of bands which aren\'t like that.  Neil Young, Jawbreaker, Three Mile Pilot, Low, Built to Spill, Sonic Youth, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Husker Du, Pink Floyd, the list goes on and on and on.  But death metal isn\'t just screaming.  There are a lot of layers to it and a great deal of musicality as well.  It\'s an aquired taste however.  My sister tried listening to the grind bands I enjoy, and after ten minutes she just said, \"I don\'t get it.\"  So don\'t worry, you\'re not alone on this.

My favorite music is metal.  Specific bands include Rammstein, Black Label Society, and Megadeth.  I didn\'t specify a type of metal because the type doesn\'t matter as long as I like the music.  I also listen to Bluegrass, Country, and other genres that baffle most people\'s minds(when they are aware that I like metal).

I used to think I knew something about underground until I read this thread.  I really need to keep up with music more
