Wow, are there a lot of metalheads here! I\'m personally very fond of jazz (especially Miles Davis, David Holland, McCoy Tyner.... etc., etc...). When I\'m not listening to jazz, I\'m often enjoying the following people:

The Divine Comedy (Hailing from Ireland, some of the funniest and most intelligent pop out there)

Sheena Ringo (From Japan, her music is very diverse - from driving punk to pretty ballads. Absolutely brilliant. Her rendition of Autumn Leaves is truly unique!)

I love Radiohead. It's impossible to pick a favorite track though. I'm quite fond of Gomez, Incubus, Charles Mingus, Four Tet, Cristian Vogel, Sparklehorse, The Gorillaz, Richie Havens, Blur, The Frames and Bill Withers.
I just got The Eraser and it is the best album i have got in a long long time. (See sig!)

Not to be rude, but what do so many people see in Slipknot that makes them good? Its your own musical taste, and Im not saying its bad, but i dont get what makes a band of like, 9-10 people all dressing up to play music any good.

If someone might explain it to me, that would be nice.

It seems like you're distracted by the image and it's getting in the way of your appreciation of their music.  I'll give that a lot of people like them just because of their image, but there are things about their music which I give them credit for.  I don't like a lot of their stuff, but there are a few tracks that I'll call good.  Try listening to these songs:
