Gah!  How can you even stand him!!  Cause of all the opposition me and my Audioslave have been getting, I decided what the heck, I'll try to get into some Rage Against the Machine...

I STILL can't stand him!  And I tried, I realli tried.  Chris just has so much more class than him, not to mention talent, looks ;), and the best voice in rock today.

At least I still have his solo stuff... I practically jumped out of my seat and started screaming "Oh God, yes!" when I heard his song at the beginning of Casino Royale earlier. (Off topic, but that was surprisingly good for a Bond movie).

Zack has so much more power in his angry, ridiculing, rap-screaming though. And his devotion to his political ideals is awesome (RATM once staged a nude protest on stage against the PMRC's censorship policies at Lollapalooza. They stood totally naked except for a gag and body paint which spelled out PMRC for 15 minutes - that's devotion)

The problem with that show is that they didn't actually play.  I'd have been mad if I'd gone there to see them and  had gotten that instead.  It was cool the way they got kicked off SNL though :D

Xus, I guess it's just a subjective taste thing.  I'm not really a fan of rap/hip hop in general, but I've always loved Rage.
"Here's to lowering caskets of old friends choice and consequence we'll birth a new day with the death of an old and start over, start over.  Here's to burying hatchets in those who you'd never call your friend...we'll birth a new day with the death of an old day and start over, start over!"

I can see where the appeal might come from, but I'll still personally never understand it.  :P I mean then again, I'm a disciple of the blues, so Chris Cornell's wailing does more for me than Zack's scream-rapping, as far as getting me pumped and energized goes.

So does anyone else here like Queens of the Stone Age?  ZZ Top?  Finger Eleven, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Foo Fighters or Muse?  Anyone??

How could I not mention Steely Dan

Or the Heep this song from their first album makes me want to weep Come Away Melinda not too characteristic of Uriah Heep's sound and not as powerful as the original 30-odd years ago. They had a string of hit albums in the seventies then had lineup problems and apparently are still kicking around Europe somewhere as a metal band. Here is another track from that first album Gypsy a little more typical. This is from what was probably their biggest album, at least on this side of the pond The Wizard - Tales Ahh Good times.....

Wha??!!  Queens of the Stone Age is seriously one of the most uber-cool bands I've ever seen!  They're ferocious on-stage, and it's like their frontman (his name presently eludes me) has this whole deep background in classic blues and rock, but it only comes out subliminally in their work because he mostly chooses to ignore it.  It's just brilliant stuff...

As for Muse, I can see how you wouldn't like them.  Honestly, Ionly like perhaps half of their work, and sometimes the guy's voice just annoys me; sort of that lame emo whine.  The only reason I still listen to them, realli, is just because I'm trying to make myself more open.

But seriously, the fact that you've never heard ZZ Top is just plain unforgivable.  La Grange is one of the best Blues Rock songs EVER recorded!

They're alright, I just think they sound a bit mellow and drony. The only good songs are the ones with Dave Grohl in them :P

Hmm, I actually heard that before. Just didn't recognise the band's name. (I was thinking of some black rappa guy or something :P) They're cool.
