Players can be legends, too.
« on: January 30, 2004, 12:31:29 am »
Small idea, easier to implement then my other ideas (i hope) it basically involves the game developers watching players for extrodenary actions. For example, say a player defeats several of the game\'s most difficult enemies when the enemies attempt to cross a bridge which the player(s) are walking across.

The devs should take notice of this and recognize the player\'s actions, and make a new quest in a similar fasion - monsters are attacking the city and have to cross over the bridge and you and your party must stop them. And when you arive there, you should see a NPC that looks exactly like the character that preformed the feat.

Just something small, but it would be very interesting. Similar things could be done by the devs to place statues of groups of great players in new and old cities. Maybe also associated with a quest.

As well, it could become more then your average quest... A character who finds or creates the most powerful weapon in the game only to take it to a remote part of the level, destroys the entrance somewhat, and then gaurds it for a long time. The devs could see this and then implement a NPC that could gain levels with the item held on a light-covered platform in the middle of a room. 8)

It\'d be really fun to play the game, do a increadable action/feat, and then quit; only to come back at a later date and see a statue of that character in a new city commemorating the event or a NPC doing what you did! :D
Precious and beutiful, it is happy. The only time when it is not is when it is in a shape of a tear.

I think this requires a lot of time to do for a DM, and what if the quest failed?

a dev cant just watch the game. they have to be another player or something to see whats happening in game. and i dont think anything that would make anyone a legend should be handled like that at. there are easy ways to store text from the game however. and any good roleplaying that seems legendary and not comical should be taken into considereation for in game transformation.

Maybe the devs can make player villains a whole lot easier. Such as if you break the rules to many times, you might just find yourself as the center attraction at a public hanging.

I am all for hangings in this game, btw. :D

Really? I played NOOBscape for quite sometime. Never heard about legendary people like that. Andy RooneyScape is kinda wierd and akward in how the devs seldom interact with players. i think it is horrible and enjoy PS just that much better.

ITs good if you dont know any other mmorpg and you dont want to fight any strong monster because if you die you lose everything :( (gold, equipment and the something you were holding)

PS: the graphics is nothing compared to PS :P

The Legend is called \"Moogie\".   :D

well in DAOC once you got really goood or maxed levels or something you could get relic armour that would tag you as being good so maybe  they could do something like that. But if this game does what it promises (flying steeds, interesting jobs, tons of spells & rougish acts) then it should be much better than DAOC if it have some realm vs realm combat, plus these graphics are pretty nice, if they get the characters looking a bit better this should be one of the best, and free!

I totally agree with druke.  As the game progresses, the elite players will simply become well-known in the game and will naturally attract attention.  Seeing as it is relatively expensive for the average citizen to even own a weapon such as a long sword, a player walking though the streets of the city in full armor will more than likely have a large crowd in pursuit :D

I think it is likely that players will eventually begin to enact their own quests, either officially or unofficially.  It may simply be a process of a player drafting up a quest and submitting it to a GM for consideration.  By letting players to most of the work in creating quests, we have a better chance to have a wider variety of stories to follow throughout the game.  The GMs\' responsibility would be more to make sure that everything sort of coincides with each other, and perhaps merging separate quests together into some kind of huge epic story.

Now wouldn\'t that be fun!  8)

I agree legendary players do arise in such games...i am playing a game called Tibia and character called Bubble is legendary there...i think she is the highest level there is on the games....another character is a Legend \'cos he found the only copy of really good Shield...etc etc...

while i don\'t really think the idea of having quests \"recorded\" is that much of a good idea, i think that there should be a way to log the exploits of a player, and once they hit some awe-inspiring level, they\'re life history is submitted into the library for all to read at a later date.

and if any legendary items are lost on any quests by said hero... the library would then hold a clue as to where it is.
