Thieving, real thieving
« on: February 21, 2004, 02:37:30 pm »
Although I am not a thief , I do get dissapointed when a RPG gives you a chance to be a thief, but you still have to play as a mage or warrior, a thief basicly uses this rule, \"Be seen and die.\" I guess what I am asking for is a good system of shadows and sneaking, an experienced thief should become almost fully invisible if deep enough in the shadows, to be a thief, you should be able to accomplish everything you want without raising a  weapon. Also, theif-y weapons should be included e.g. a black-jack, it only knocks people out with minimal damage; a short bow and arrow, easwier to conceal then a longbow; some weird thing to put out lights etc. Any thoughts on this arew welcome

you may not have noticed it, but besides the topic wish list, there also is a topic called thieving... maybe that is where you should be when you want to talk about euhm.... thieving??

Actually, im not talking about pickpocketing, im talking about a good sneaking/shadow system. The other forum is about the rules of pickpocketing, so im pretty sure i posted in the right forum.

well, the subforums are called \"PvP,PK and Thieving\" so I would guess this should go in there :P

I do agree with you that thieving in most RPG\'s isn\'t really what it should be, but I\'m sure there are lots of discussions about it in the subforums already..

I think he is more talking about the \"rogue\" things more then an actual thief (just that is where it comes from I\'m guessing)...since there are many other classes that fit into the rogue category it would apply to as well that would have the same problem.

A little off topic, but, it would be awesome to have an \"unconsious\" aspect. If we get hit on the head by a thief for exanple, the screen could go black for, say, 30 sec. You could be awoken by smelling salts or a spell or something. You could be knoked unconsious when fighting too, which would encourage group combat.
