more name options

ok... heres my problem..

my character name came about a long time ago... and in its fullest it is

Lord Deddarus Jeden

now... if u sed that ingame.. no-one would wanna /tell me anything or /buddy give me anything cos it would too much to type

thus i am Deddarus... still a mouthfull

most ppl call me Ded when talking to me close-by

so i have the following suggestion:

names be split into sepperate fields as follows

-Title
-Name
-Surname
-Alias/nickname

Title

this would be like Lord, Master, Sir etc .... i propose that the title is awarded to you dependent on what home you own (ie a castle would make you lord, a tower would make you sir etc)

Name

your characters full 1st name

Surname

Your characters full surname (this would facilitate in-game events such as weddings etc where the name can change... also it would allow ppl to roleplay related characters)

Alias/nickname

this would be a short secondary name that the server recognises as being your character

ie for me i would have the name

Lord (when i own a castle) Deddarus Jeden

but if someone typed /tell Ded [msg] then i would still get the [msg]

last names are already in the public CVS, so probably in CB too.. and yeah, you can\'t own a castle all by yourself :\\

ok welp i dunno what buildings will be available.. and how much they cost etc

so lets say we shift it down a bit... whatever is the building smaller than a castle that is likely to be the most expensive a single person can buy... whoever owns that becomes \'lord\'

and just incase someone manages to buy a castle for himself.... he could be \'King\'

automating titles like this stops u getting a server where practically everybody calls themselves Lord or emporer

u wouldnt expect a lord to be sitting in a little 1 room wooden shack now would u?

I like the idea very much...one other thing...must have apostrophes...all my names have apostrophes...sometimes like 4 or 5....

*always has trouble working out how to pronounce names with apostrophes...* does the \' = a or u or what?

hehe but yeah... apostrophes r common in rp names so they should be available too

If that happens, there would also have to be armies etc to defend the castle, what would make titles like leader or warlord or archer or knight or footman etc needed to decide the ranks/devisions from the castle... it would simply bring along way to much details for the game to keep fun.

that depends if the castle/whatever was involved in a town war system.... if it was just a house... non-destructable.. non-conquerable etc then the house owner would just get the name

plus titles wouldnt include \'archer\' and \'warrior\'.... who in history was known as Archer john smith? .... would be Mr., sir, master, lord, etc

people would also be encouraged to live in a suitable house for their character (eg if u wanted to be a lord u would live in a house that gives a \'lord\' title... so u dont end up with lords living in shacks and \'mr\'s living in towers)

could even be a specific set of mage towers (complete with couldron room etc) .... could look kinda like orthanc or barad\'dur..... these would give a mage title (hmm.. can tthink of 1 off hand... but yeah... think of 1 + it could happen)

What the hell!? Why can\'t you own a castle to yourself, sure you WOULDN\'t be the only one living in it you would be ruler or master and you would have your guards,cooks,butler and such people.
