Wants to help out but underage
« on: April 26, 2004, 02:23:31 am »
I was just looking at the \"help us\" page and thought I\'d like to contribute. Then I remembered that I am most definitely underage to help out. Is there any other way in which I could assist this project?

I don\'t think there could be any problems with that because it\'s volunteering, but I\'m not in the PS Team, and I don\'t know much about worldwide minor-employment rules...

But will you actually be able to contribute anything?

I\'d love to contribute too, so what? I don\'t know anything.

I have copies of [Windows] 3.1, 3.11, 95, and 98, too. Not to mention various versions of MS-DOS

\"But will you actually be able to contribute anything?\"

What is that supposed to mean?

SaintNuclear:  I believe the PS team has a basic age requirement, for whatever reason.

DarkMaster625: What area are you particularly interested in?  Nothing really prevents you from tinkering, it\'s just that us people outside the team don\'t have access to what\'s going on \"behind the scenes\".  If you\'re interested in the programming end of things, download CrystalSpace, CEL and Planeshift.  Instructions are around here somewhere, I\'d suggest lurking and using the \"search\" utility for a while just to get a feel for the community.

Ok these answers are out of order but anyway...

No I am not Dark Master 123(my names always have 625 if possible)

I would say RECRUITER but I doubt I could help with that. I\'m not to good at the other subjects except WEB DESIGNER but I\"m not an expert on that. Also I\'m on a Mac so I dont have access to most of the applications.

By \"But will you actually be able to contribute anything\" he(please excuse me if you are a she) means I can\'t help out by just wanting to, I have to know something.

Exactly what I meant, and yes, I\'m a he.

I\'m sure most of the community would like to help, but they can\'t help just by wanting to do it.

I contribute in sounds, and I\'ve learnt that only the highest quality stuff gets put in. Same goes for art I assume. As for coding... you have a mac ehhh?? Well as Androgos said,  if you can do even the simplest things like compiling (ok, it can be not so simple ;)) then you can report errors which will help to speed things up.

first of all, you can always contribute to PlaneShift, even if you just bring out ideas on this forum ...the devs here are usually coders, WTB members are usually the art people (3d models, textures ...), there\'s also the settings team and so on, but that\'s stuff that can be discussed also on the forums - the only actual difference if you contribute on the forums or directly as a dev, is that you won\'t have access to all the material and documentation that\'s being developed or decided upon - a good idea posted here has just as good chances to get implemented as one that one of the devs thinks of :]

trying to compile PlaneShift on a mac could help very much, since the mac port is the most problematic for the devs (none of them have one AFAIK) and any feedback would be welcome

you\'re always welcome to help in the TreeCastle section of the PlaneShift world, if you\'re interested.
