2 GOOD ideas

1st: make a vs of PS 4 crappy comps, so that pll that dont have 5000$ comps can play PS

2nd: make it so that if yr running 2 clients of 1 IP, make it so that u need 1 \"key\", 4 things like bots, so that u dont get n00bs having 300 attack bots running around killing everything insight(note: make it so u have 2 buy the keys of PS itself[yousin PS$ ofcource]so that it dont become a pain in the ass)

i can get a pc:
25oo+ athlon XP
512 mbram
128 videocard
80 gig hard disk
..... for only 500$
so where the hell do you get your computer that is costs such a gigantic ammount of money??

i agree that when you run 2 clients from the same IP, you need a special key to be able to run them both at the same time.

but can my ideas work?
(btw, i have a laptop, & i tryed lowering the resolution all the way 2 the bottom & it still wont work
its a 333mghz laptop w a crappy videocard, though it has ALOT of ram

333mhz is a pretty bad machine in the first place.

Though I do think keys should be needed to run multiple clients off the same IP, they shouldn\'t cost anything.

Any person who knows how to run a macro bot should be able to use a proxy server as well... so there\'s no point in having keys.

Yeah... don\'t tell the script kiddies....  no way they\'d be able to run a proxy server.

Not that planeshift is really going to appeal to the script kiddies (well maybe because its free) but this is going to be a MMORPG, not MMOLG (massively multiplayer online level grind :D).  There will be no keys for planeshift since it is FREE.

I believe the PS team would like PS to run on as many different hardware configurations as possible, however it is currently quite demanding (and there\'s not all that much that can be done about it).  

There may be other ways of avoiding bots, although requiring in-game \"keys\" is a new one, but I think there are too many ways around it for it to be effective.  Some ingenuity will be required to detect bots and macro-heavy client use, if such things are determined to be against the PS rules (and I would think that they are).

Hehe my dream gaming rig fetches upwards of $15,000 Australian.

From my experience it is the script kiddies that just download hacks etc and make them available to companies like Punk Buster who in turn block and detect those hacks. Its the people that make the hacks and keep them to themselves that are the real problem.

you call that ALOT :S i run with 1536 atm, i\'d like to call that ALOT :P

and why the keys, just pick the pc\'s mac-adress, convert it to an md5 string and you have your identicall key, so every person has a different key, and nobody can cheat that way.

now was that so hard to come up with.
