I really hope the awards are posted here as well. Id rather not have to bugger around with IRC just to get the results of the competition.

Same here, I would have to download it, figure out how it works, screw it up, reinstall it, and by that time, the ceremony will be over :(

Yea, no worries for those who cant/dont want to go to IRC. I will post the log as Aendar said.

7:30? Who did you hear that from? :P I told a couple people I might do it around 12pm gmt-6. That seems to be a good universal time. But it\'s not carved in stone yet. I might change it later.

I first need to count up all the votes for each person. Which will take awile, so forgive me for saying I don\'t feel like doing it right now :P I\'ll do it later.

Very lame excuse Monketh :P

Congrats to those who voted, shame on those who didn\'t ;)

You will try to get motivated for the weekend won\'t you Aelya? :) You\'ll get a much bigger attendance if you do make it for then, Saturday night GMT events seem to get big attendances. I\'d be happy to help out if you need me to, just say the word.

You going to announce any runners up, or just go straight for the kill with the winner of each category?

Of course, hence the winky smilie :D

If I\'d written : \"Congrats to those who voted, shame on those who didn\'t X( \"  it would have meant something very different see :)

I never take those emoticon things into consideration and I rarely use them. I find that if your message is written well then its more concise. Just my opinion and personal preference though.

They tend to make long messages look like a textual mine field if used to liberally. 1337 speak and those things is no mans land.

I don\'t think you\'ll have any argument from anybody here on that one :)

I do find smilies a necessary and useful tool though. So much of our communication lies in visual things like gestures, facial expression and voice intonation, those things are totally lost in short messages, such as those in a forum or text message. Smilies are a good way of providing us with those non-verbal forms of language and communication in a social environment such as this, and can often help a reader get a better understanding of exactly what the author of the message is saying, and can sometimes avoid nasty misunderstandings.
Anyway, I totally digress off topic...

ooh, smart lady! heh, my last english teacher spent more than a month explaining how it\'s nearly impossible to intone, just with words, exactly how you feel. that\'s a big part of why flame wars are started on bbs like this.
we are the music-makers, we are the dreamers of dreams - Gene Wilder as willy wonka

Johnny Depp\'s a poser to the throne. No one will ever play the part as well as Gene Wilder

You people do realize that you\'re arguing over a winky face don\'t you...?
It\'s just a little winky face.

Now if it were this -> :baby: I could understand the point of arguing it.  Cause honestly...what the hell is it?  The tag for it says baby...but that\'s one ugly baby.

Yeah...

Only n00bs don't quote themselves...
