Yea, no worries for those who cant/dont want to go to IRC. I will post the log as Aendar said.

7:30? Who did you hear that from? :P I told a couple people I might do it around 12pm gmt-6. That seems to be a good universal time. But it\'s not carved in stone yet. I might change it later.

I first need to count up all the votes for each person. Which will take awile, so forgive me for saying I don\'t feel like doing it right now :P I\'ll do it later.

I never take those emoticon things into consideration and I rarely use them. I find that if your message is written well then its more concise. Just my opinion and personal preference though.

They tend to make long messages look like a textual mine field if used to liberally. 1337 speak and those things is no mans land.

I do find smilies a necessary and useful tool though. So much of our communication lies in visual things like gestures, facial expression and voice intonation, those things are totally lost in short messages, such as those in a forum or text message. ooh, smart lady! heh, my last english teacher spent more than a month explaining how it\'s nearly impossible to intone, just with words, exactly how you feel. that\'s a big part of why flame wars are started on bbs like this.
