lol, I think that we don\'t really need racial wars.  I am pretty sure some people just won\'t like a certain race (ie: The Cabal and Elves).  No need to force a Rp element which will most likely be in the game neways

Well it would work in a sence, perhaps there could be isolated towns where the race living there beleive themselves superior to all others. They could be extreamly hostile towards all other races, it would be intresting if you needed someone of that race to obtain certain items from the city or town.

its a great idea and guilds wont split they will be stronger... if the grumpy racist dwarf shop keeper sells to you at twice the price it is only logical to get a dwarven friend you trust to help... perhaps a guild member?

If you dont take part in the racisme you will be pulled together in oreder to beat it.

also if the game is to have a moral feature... taking part in race wars could lower it and interacting with your enamie race could make your moral better as you have risen above childish differences.

YOU KNOW IM RIGHT
(and if you disagree your probably a silly little dwarf, minning away my rocky homeland!!!)

instead of such a strong thing like racism why not have something lighter like racial grudges which is popular thing in many games, books and fantasy settings.

well thats what i meant but your always gonna have extremists that will want to prove they are the better race... why not make it a game feature instead of an anoying think PvPers do...

This racial wars suck , i think we sould brin religion to this world , there could be multiple religions which would fight against each other , you could join a religion a fight for its honor , a we should pick the leader for each religion , a player leader ,  and they could start wars , we would fight for our religion. If you want to start a war you should , start it whit a reason , and religion is a good reason.

there are already religions in Planeshift, and religious wars have been in the thinking box.

templars of steel - worship STEEL

followers of aliathi - worship aliathi

Okay, you can not have religious wars if you don\'t have race wars, for the reasons you have outlined. Both are bigotry and prejudice, so if one is allowed, they both should be. Personally I think both types of wars ARE strong RP elements, but in this case Race Wars are out; the devs say they are at peace, thus no racial hatred. People are thinking of these races as though they were in Faerun or Middle Earth, or some other fantasy world... this isn\'t right. They are from planeshift, and their lore is Planeshift lore. Think of their characters as the devs say you should, after all, they are the devs\' creations.

With religious wars... can players start their own cult to some unknown or imagined god? or are there limitations in Planeshift?

Would the wars be the main focus of the game or would they be a sort of side story aside from the main plot of the game?

I think a war as the main focus of a game would get boring eventually, and that, rather than have it as a main plot driver, the devs could enable a system where player associations can become engaged in war with other PA\'s. There could be diety specific PAs whose beliefs would force them to war on other PAs.

This would allow players to decide who is at war with who, so the process can change continually as alliances and new PAs come into existance.

definitely side story, no  doubt about it... that would be a terrible storyline...

ummm... do MMORPG\'s like this will be have a storyline?
Does Everquest have a story line? Star Wars Galaxies? I\'m not sure how they could really work in a storyline... that would lead to a conclusive objective, which as I see it, is impossible.

SWG has a storyline, which is usually in the form of a series of quests players can complete. The quests are only available for a litle while, and then, depending on how many imperials and rebels completed the quest, they decide whose side is currently winning (im pretty sure thats how it works. It might be a little more complicated).

All games have a storyline, like it or not. There is both the game\'s storyline, the players\' storyline and the quest storyline. For example, the beginning of a player\'s storyline is when he is lvl 60 and sitting somewhere, talking to his friend and saying \"Remember back at xxxxx-place when we were newbs?\" That xxxxx-place is the beginning of the story, a place where a lot of people start and then develop their own story to play. The game storyline starts diffrently, like PlaneShift. It started 10 years ago as a MUD and is now a 3D MMORPG in development. That\'s a story in itself. So yes, both EverQuest and StarWars Galaxies have storylines. They may not be very RolePlay adapted, but they\'re there.

I don\'t like the idea. Why should racism be allowed and part of the game?

It is easier to hate than it is to love.
