well, this has been one truely f***ed up semester. first I had to sell the computer to pay for tuition, then I get sick and spend nearly three weeks out of classes.

I finally got my student loans though, and I\'m back with 56k, and I managed to get a fairly decent computer. AMD 2800 with 1gig of ram and a 124 meg video card. cost me 700 american altogether.

the next one actually comes in two parts because my scanner comes with a crappy image editor that won\'t allow me to connect two images, and the picture was too big to get in one scan.

you know, I\'ve been planning something with my wife for weeks, but the fact is, I\'m just now beginning to really think about this...


first off, there\'s good news and bad news. the good news is... my wifes step father just died.

I know, I know, that\'s not something most people would be celebrating... but you would if you knew the guy. the bastard spent years torturing and abusing the woman I love. she joined the military to get away from him. then later he wouldn\'t allow dani to visit her own mother.

the thing that\'s really just now sinking in is the fact that I\'ve let my wife talk me into visiting her mom in maine next year. I\'ve talked about it before. but I\'ve not really spent much time thinking about it. we\'ll be living in her house for a month and a half without a computer (yes, I tried to get my wife to let me take it...) or internet service. we\'ll be out in the woods in one of the most humid states in america...(dani likes to tell me the seasons in maine are mud, wet and snow)

I\'m gettin a little unhappy about the idea...

last a couple of weeks ago, I dropped by Electronics boutique and bought myself a copy of Final Fantasy IX. I got home with it, and popped it in...
I got a message that said \"please insert playstation or playstation2 format disk
I tried resetting, like five times, finally it worked. I got through the first fight, and as soon as that was over Bam, out of nowhere the game freezes up...
ok so I called the store, and they said they\'d replace it. No problem right...

So the next day, I walk the five miles to the mall, and give them the old copy...
they tell me they\'ll put me on a reserve list for the next copy that comes in...

I walk home...

two weeks later, on thursday, I get a call saying they got a copy in... I walk the five miles to the mall and get a ride home from someone I know.

I\'m home, I\'ve spent two days playing and then last night. 11 at night. \"insert disk two\" loading. the screen remains black for at least a half hour when I give up. restart the computer, load my game.
I\'ve tried everything, but the disk is dead.

now, think, i\'ve had to walk a total of twenty five miles for this game. this is the second failure I\'ve had with Electronic Boutique. guess what, I\'ve only bought one game from them in my life. that\'s twice as many failures as I\'ve even had dealings with them.

if you can\'t tell I\'m a little frustrated right now.

well, this semester has been a killer, but I think I\'ll survive. This has been about my first free moment since we started. on top of working something like 18 hours a week in class, I have one teacher that gives us a mandantory requirement of 15 studio hours a week and all of my teachers give  homework... good thing it\'s winding down for the end of the semester. The good news however is that while I\'m developing my technical skills, I\'m also opening up artistically. my more recent projects are more and more beginning to show my individual personality... I\'ll try to get some of them online sometime to show off

well, I\'m not up for open pk unless it\'s confined to a single server myself, I know what the devs say, I know what the players say...

last night tho, I woke up with an idea that would solve pk pretty well in my opinion
perma death, players go back and forth on whether they want it... I say, if aggro someone(without a set just cause, such as pickpocketing, if it\'s allowed in game, or you\'ve messaged the devs about foul language or abusive behaviour, and get permission), you get flagged by npc\'s for a perma death kill, that way, the only way to aggressively pk someone is if you become such an outlaw that no one will deal with you, and you should con differently to other players as well, perhaps even as a monster, however, I don\'t think that pc kills should be perma death, just die and get looted, spawn someplace away from npc\'s

this would allow pking for those who are stupid enough to perform it. if you want to kill other people with no reason, you have to put up with the chance to lose your character permanently
