In-Game Roleplay Events / Passing it on (GM event)
« on: February 21, 2015, 07:41:58 pm »
Thanks for the event today. It was fun. It was nice to hunt with everyone today. I haven't done that in awhile.

For those that missed it. The event was based on Enkidukia lore. It involved trying to save the
Graalahkam-Maarhe, the Memory-singer of the Sarraghi Pack. They are the keepers of the unwritten History and lore of the Enkidukia peoples. Through song they pass on that knowledge to others. Typically, each pack or tribe may have a Memory-singer. In the past, with  the lost of the packs Graalahkam-Maarhe, the tribe was often disbanded. With the plague effecting the Sarraghi Pack and their Dzar closed to the outside world the fear of that loss is very great.

Upon helping to gather the necessary resources to extent the life of the Sarraghi Graalahkam-Maarhe so that knowledge could be passed on. Those that participated were rewarded with a song of Enkidukia lore based on their Home-world. (Which you can find in their history here)http://planeshift.top-ix.org/pswiki/index.php?title=Enkidukai

Here is the Memory-song that the  Sarraghi Graalahkam-Maarhe shared

"Today, we share a memory. A memory that is not often shared outsides the bounds of the
six Packs of the Enkidukia. It is the memory of Phon'larr' Jit. OUR WORLD! Our world, in which the
peoples dawned. This is the memory of who we were, of who we are. This is the memory of Enkidukia.

This is our song."

Phon'larr'jit (Homeworld)
We will remember
Our world, so long ago.

The wind, calling forth across the seas.
Sharing the sounds of life with each breeze.
The long grasses, dancing upon the plains,
golden waves as far as the eyes can see.
It was here, it was here, we were raised.
Fifty Packs strong were we, Enkidukia.
So proud, so free, we lived then.
There beneath the light of your reddened sun.
The Hunter's Eye, burning still.
Always, in our hearts.

Vejhape, Vejhaba  (Brother, Sister)
Let us remember
Our home long ago

So proud, we were then.
Laying claim, to all that for which we shared.
Until, the golden fields of our home,
flowed rich with the blood of our kin.
As one, the packs fell against the other.
Bloody masses upon the fields of sorrow.
Like fallen tears, they pooled together,
to form a lake of lost souls.
The Hunter's eye burned brightly then,
as it fell from the sky.

Gharrak Brumi (Ancient Seer of the Akkaio)
Let us remember
Your words so long ago

Ancient Seer of the Ancient Akkaio,
that our deeds would bring our misfortune.
Yet, your wisdom bore it's price.
Never, would you see our weapons cast aside.
We stood together once more.
We mourned for our loss.
Fifty years, we would know peace.
Before your words would bear the truth.
Then, the horned ones came onto our land,
and set to our demise.

Demasita (tommorow)
Let us remember
Our home so long ago

When the faceless ones,
brought upon our peoples, the Long Death.
The darkened skies,
as the pyres burned black.
In countless numbers,
the horned beasts marched against us.
We gathered our children.
The things we valued most.
To the East we fled, as Gharrak foretold,
to seek our new home.

Inu jhu demah (Today)
Let us remember
Our peoples so long ago

As we looked back through to yesterday
from the mountains in the East.
Our great Dzars, burning against the the sky.
overrun by the void of blackness
The brave warriors that stayed,
slain or worse.
Each, choosing their own fate.
So, that their peoples had time.
To carry our hopes into tomorrow,
before the blue door closed them behind.

Let us remember for them
We are Enkidukia
This is our song

Thanks Zunna and Iridia  and the GM team for allowing me to participate. It was a pleasure.

Roleplaying (Communitive Storywriting) / Xiosia's Gifts
« on: January 14, 2015, 09:52:15 pm »

Xiosia's Gifts

There are many stories that surround us today of the generosity of the Goddess Xiosia. There are some that remember and were witness to the days when she walked among us bestowing such generosity upon all that pledged their loyalty and devotion to her. It is said that many feigned their devotion out of greed and desire for that which they did not possess. And thus, from the blessings of Xiosia they acquired such skills and pleasantries not easily come by in our world then or even today. Though the stories tell of such fortunes and how wishes were so easily granted by the Goddess Xiosia by the mere act of subjecting oneself to her will. There are things that the stories never tell.

Gods and Goddess's are what they are for all reasons and purposes beyond our understandings. Their blessings may be given and received to the willing or unwilling as they see fit to do so. Such is their will. To openly ask and acquire a boon from one such as they often requires the requester to be bound in terms of agreement that need to be fulfilled and observed. For those that agree and abide by the degree of the God or Goddess, may be blessed with their good fortune. Blessings may be temporary or ongoing depending on the agreement established and the devotion and servitude of the requester, or of divine will. Those that receive such intervention and fail to achieve the terms of their boon may be subject to consequences as the Gods and Goddess's see fit for the infraction of their given faith.

That said, It was many cycles ago when the Goddess Xiosia graced the world with her divine Presence for all to see. Each appearance was during the end of the third season when the long effects of the Frostfall had taken it's toll upon the land. When the cities teemed with life. After several cycles of good fortune and good weather many communities thrived from the mining activity that boomed the population and economy. Metal crafting was hard work, but popular among the crafts. Many turned to it for their fortunes and livelihood. Much of the population turned away from the other skills and crafts in order to seek a quick fortune in the mining and metal working trade. Life was good, robust and carefree. It was during this age when some seen the Hoarfrost fell for the first time that any could remember. To them it was new and considered a splendid occurrence as many danced and rejoiced at the grandeur of it. Forsaking the cold they celebrated it with the merriment of children. It was this lack of awareness of what it meant that would lead to the events of the following cycles.

The explosion of riches that flowed from the mining and metal working skills lead many to abandon the other trades and crafts needed to keep a community going. This lack of interest degraded the economy unforeseen by many. There was a shortage in food and housing, some may still remember housing costs rising into the millions of trias. Open housing was reserved for guilds and organizations by the Octarchy as there was so few to be found. So many had left these trades that built up a community to become rich in the skills associated with the metal trade that when the economy plummeted there were so few engaged in other trades to provide the wares to sustain the population. The market prices fell sharply even for those that were highly skilled in the metal working trades. Their wares once sought out and coveted above all others were now commonplace throughout Ylaikum. Each lowering their prices to gain sells over the other collapsing the mining trade altogether. It was no longer the haven of riches it once was. Those skilled within the metal trades soon found themselves back were they once started. Mining their own metal because they could not afford the prices of the ore verses the prices of their goods. People began to migrate between the settlements in order to find a better living. Crime and violence became a popular choice of many as they set themselves upon other travelers. The wilderness was not the only place they practiced their deeds as soon they found their way into the back alleys and darker corners of the cities and settlements.

Still several cycles would pass from the first appearance of the Frostfall and the first appearance of Xiosia. It was near the end of the Third Season when she made herself known and walked among us in our world. The change of the Third to the Forth Season being celebrated yearly as the change of seasons marks the Zenith of of the Frostfall. Though the Frostfall is far from over yet at this time. Those that survived the long cold season to this point anticipate the coming of the Great Melt and the better weather that follows. It was at this period of strife that Xiosia presented herself to the masses. Those that followed her ways already seen her as a doting mother tending to her children. Those that did not, looked upon her as a fake at first and a nuisance or a threat. It was when she first bestowed her gifts to her followers that many came to realize her divine presence for the first time. The greed that that sustained them for so many cycles came forth once more as they clamored for her attentions. Throwing themselves pitifully before her to claim their prize by feigning their devotion for her. Of those, many created boons that they could not or would not keep. Thinking to themselves that the Goddess was naive to their true intentions. Xiosia excepted their boons without question so it is known. Of the gifts she presented many were trivial , but fair to say as well some were presented housing and others skills that were forgotten among the population. These trades would later open up more interest in the other forgotten skills that would help an already failing economy. It would be several cycles yet before tradesman-ship of these skills and trades found themselves commonplace among the population of Ylaikum.

Twice Xiosia walked among us sharing with us her grace and devotion to the world. On the following year during the Zenith of the Frostfall she appeared once more. As before bestowing her gifts to any that pledged devotion, and some have said to those who did not. Those that have already devoted themselves to their own Gods recognized and accepted her for the Goddess that she is. But their true faith and devotion was fully given to the God or Goddess of their choice. This did not offend Xiosia as their devotion was of true faith and she respected the clarity they held within their hearts. So it was, that Xiosia again presented gifts to those that came to her. Those that were faithful and true and those that were not. Again as before many promised boons that they would never keep.., thinking that the Goddess was still naive as the year before. Giving no care or thought to what they had promised. It would be the last year she walked among us in her divine presence that is known. The reason for which still baffles scholars and researchers alike. Little is known even among those of the Xiosia faith as to the purpose of her visits and even less to the reasoning behind her gifts. Stating only that she is the Goddess of the natural order, that her intentions would one day let itself be known to all to see.

Another year or so may pass as the economy continued to fall. The populations in the cities and settlements dwindled as people migrated to other levels seeking a better way of livelihood. Many had fallen into despair as crime and murder flourished throughout Ylaikum. It had reached a point that the Octarchy had to force it's authority within the larger cities. Guards arrested and imprisoned some of those. Catch others that were tried and fined. In one occurrence at least one was condemned to be thrown to the crystal and permanent death for the upheaval that that individual had caused. Still the population fell. The economy slowly stabilized and many of the lost skills found their way back into the mix of the community. Creating a real community of trades and goods that could be bought and bartered among the population of citizens and tradesmen. These new found mix of the communities helped the population to endure the hardened seasons of the Frostfall. The drop in population throughout Ylaikum stabilized and in some cities growth again could be seen gradually. Though small at first, slowly many that had traveled found themselves returning to the cities and settlements that in which they had first established themselves. Finding their calling in one or more of the once forgotten trades that had resurfaced during the turmoil that followed what many still call the Golden Years.

Of Xiosia and her gifts? That is for Scholars and researchers to reason out. One could ask the many followers of Xiosia for their guidance as to her true intentions. With little being known of the Goddess Xiosia other then she is the Goddess of nature and the natural order. Few have speculated that her purpose is to work in unison with the Goddess Drakkau with her task. That is, of course speculation. For whatever purpose or intention Xiosia may have had to visit us and grace us with her gifts of divinity may forever be unknown to us. Whether it was by Natural Order, Natural Selection, or simply to Grace us with her presence will remain a mystery to all but her and those that share her status.

In-Game Roleplay Events / Snowbud Festival

Snowbud festival
The Celebration of the First Bloom
Saturday, Jan 24, Sunday January 25
Hydlaa

The Snowbud Festival is a yearly celebration usually held on or near the beginning of the month of Yndoli. Each City or Settlement may hold a variation of their own throughout the month of Yndoli. The Celebration marks the end of the cold season. It is considered the season of lovers as the month of Yndoli bears the sign of the beast lord Karmath. The mating hormones of many species are enhanced during this time period. The wildlife begin their mating rituals in search of a suitable mate. The races of Ylaikum are not unaffected by this natural process. Some may find themselves the object of another favors or to seek out the favors of one they find desirable.
During a present Ceremony given by the Daughters of Xiosia and the Sons of Xiosia at the Secret Garden in Hydlaa some strange occurrences were witnessed by all that attended. The occurrences hinted that the Goddess Xiosia was present during the Ceremony. Among the events that happened an initiate planted seeds that sprouted into Snowbuds before our eyes. A gift said to be a promise from Xiosia that the Frostfall has ended. There was also among the strange events yet unexplained a healing of one that was present. One that was maimed for life only to be healed before our eyes. It was looked upon as a blessing from the Goddess. These events have enticed DOX and SOX to hold a Festival early this year in honor of Xiosia.

The Blessing of the First Blossoms

As the final days of Novari wane away at last. The temperatures gradually change for the better. It remains cold with the wind, and a late season fall of the Hoarfrost. The change, however subtle. Brings with it the coming of the Great Melt. It is during this time on rare occasion on small patches along the hillsides and fields that the earliest bloom of flowers appear. They may be found along the roadsides leading into the many settlements of Yliakum. The bright color of their flowers stick out in contrast against the faded yellow grasses left from the seasons prior. The old grasses serve in their own way as nutrients and and coverage for the new life that sprouts beneath them. They are bright to the eyes like the whiteness of the Hoarfrost, and hearty as the Frostfalls edge. Maybe it is for this reason they claimed the name of the Snowbud.
The first of the season's blossom's are said by some to be a promise from the Gods that life will renew itself again upon the world. A promise that signifies the end of the harsh grasp of the Frostfall and the dread that came with it. Others believe that the Snowbud blossom's are the whispers in which Xiosia sends out as her will for fruition and fertility. The Snowbud's brightness and scent aids to entice the many species of Yliakum and to remind them that life must once again be renewed. To the more simple beliefs it only marks the end of a season and the beginning of the next. A time to ready the fields for planting and the work that follows.
For whatever belief or reason the beauty with which the first blossoms offer make them a joyful view after the Frostfalls harsh grip passes. They are sought after and gathered by both males and females of many races and communities for several purposes.
The males seek the flowers mainly as a gift to present to the mate of his life or the maiden who had filled his dreams during the long months of Frostfall. The First Blossoms become a prize of beauty and pleasantness that can be offered as a gift of his affection and devotion. Often with the hopes of winning the ladies favor in the coming of Yndoli.
The females seek the spring blossoms for several purposes. The spring blossoms are also gathered for decoration. Maidens cherish weaving the stems and flowers into chains that can be worn about the neck or wrist, some weave a wreath that may be worn in adornment about their head as a maidens crown for the upcoming festivities of Yndoli.
The joy of one finding the first Snowbud blossom of the season is looked upon as a blessing. Many may take it to be presented as an offering to the Gods asking that their wishes or prayers be answered. The flowers blossom is offered into the local waters throughout the months of Yndoli and Unidon. The blossoms are allowed to float away in a manner to carry the prayers or wishes off to the God in which it was offered to. Carrying the hopes that their dreams may be fulfilled by the offering. It is not surprising to come across waterways during these months and seeing blossoms float upon the surface. Each holding the dreams and prayers of the one's that placed them there.

General Discussion / Recurring Events
« on: December 13, 2014, 04:00:56 am »
I'm revisiting this topic as I have some questions and interest on the subject.

First, What are the guidelines or requirements in order to get a recurring event scheduled yearly. I have worked with two in the past and am currently co-working on another. The two That I am looking at first are the Summer Festival and the Unidon Welcoming. Both of which I still have several notes and posts that can be worked with. What I need is an outline of what is required to make that work. I have this example of a RL/PS timescale to work with. Is this still current?

Unodin 1st April – 6th May

Byari 7th May – 12th June

Treman 13th June – 18th July

Kravaan 19th July – 23rd August

Quintahl 24th August – 28th September

Azhord 29th September – 4th November

Ylaaren 5th November – 10th December

Dwanden 11th December – 15th January

Novari 16th January – 21st Febuary

Yndoli 22st Febuary – 31th March

Given that to work with what is needed to make a recurring event possible?

Second, Is I am also interested in Player response in Recurring dates in which for them to schedule events in with an already established theme and/or backdrop in which to use for RP and to help outline their event to.

Roleplaying (Communitive Storywriting) / In Observance of Novari
« on: December 13, 2014, 02:58:10 am »
Observance of Novari

A bitter cold wind blows across the landscape. It's chilling bite seeps deep into the body instantly. Each new blast
penetrates deeper then the last until one's very bones and muscle begin to ache. Scarcely is another soul to be found as frigid
temperatures continue the long winter's grasp upon the world. The many inhabitants of Yliakum preferring to stay inside behind the
closed doors of hearth or tavern. Those few daring souls venturing out into weather do so in haste seeking cover and warmth indoors as
quickly as they can. Finding instant relief at the sound of a door clicking shut behind them and the welcome glow of the fireplace.
Their heavy winter clothing slowly loosened and removed with stiffened hands, reluctantly discarded before settling down in front of
the heat of the fire. With a warm drink grasped tightly enclosed within their frozen fingers. They begin to relax as they shake off
the feel of the winders cold bite. Many times a weary traveler or a tavern patron may in jest be heard to compare the wrath of winter
to the stories they often heard on the effects Drakku's curse. Even though many may have find themselves fortunate to have not shared
such an experience. Those that have may indeed find it to be a fair comparison.

So it is, as the month of Novari opens and extends winter's bitter face for all to see. The hoarfrost drifts through the air as
it falls. It covers the ground at times, blanketing it for as far as the eyes can see. It's white residue locking in the cold that
winter has wrought across the land. Cold to the touch, but wondrous to the eyes as it paints over everything in sight. The newest
layer often picked up to drift again within the wind as if searching to create a new spectacle elsewhere. Tough the cold remains.
There are days, when the wind rests where both children and adults may find sport and amusement. The merriment of such activities are
enjoyed by most. The exception may be those that clear the hoarfrost that has collected outside the storefronts and  upon the city
streets.

Far from over, winter's touch begins to relinquish it's solid grasp. It's anger subsiding from time to time as if tiring from
the effort. The days seem warmer as the wind disappears. On occasion returning to remind all that winter has not yet yielded it's
desire to remain. As the days past by it's resistance grows weaker as the frost fall begins. The hoarfrost that once covered the ground
in it's beauty disappears, melting into the ground until the soil can take no more. The runoff entering into the many rivers and lakes
found throughout land. The ice that hid them fractures and eventually breaks away with the rising force from the increased volume of
water that finds it's way into the waterways. The great Melt of the season begins. Bringing with it only the promise of warmer weather
to come.

It is at this time that traveling becomes the most hazardous. With the Great melt reaching across the land floods and flooding
are commonplace. Flash flooding occurring randomly and without warning within the rivers and streams. Wreaking havoc as they rise
suddenly. Roads and trail become impassable at times or even washout completely. Those that do find it necessary to travel in there
times are reminded to do so with caution. For even though there are days that are warm, the winter season is far from over. Raising
it's head yet again in a bitter attempt to remain. Any unprepared travel can find themselves unwillingly offered into Drakku's
embrace.

On rare occasion during the Great Melt when the days begin to warm. The first blossoms of snowbuds may make their appearance in
areas across the landscape. Such an event is often coveted by locals and religious factions. Often observed as a sign from their deity
of the upcoming change of the season or a  reminder of better days to come. How it is observe widely depends on the religious beliefs
of those factions or the fractured groups of those religions. As far as local folklore is concerned an early snowbud blossom is often
cherished and treasured, but often bears more value in relation to the approaching month of Yndoli when snowbuds  are more in
abundance.

As winter's cold, cold breath
draws down hard upon us
let not it's bite
chill my soul
As Novari slowly passes
bring a sign that Cheliss comes

O' chill my bones
While you will
O' chill my bones
While you hang on still
As Novari slowly passes
Bring a sign that Cheliss comes

Though your beauty
Was ever so stunning
Your bitterness
Can never be
As Novari slowly passes
Bring a sign that Cheliss comes

O' chill my bones
While you will
O' chill my bones
While you hang on still
As Novari slowly passes
Bring a sign that Cheliss comes

Soon the Frost fall
will be upon us
Then will end
your bitter reign
As Novari slowly passes
Bring a sign that Cheliss comes

O' chill my bones
While you will
O' chill my bones
While you hang on still
As Novari slowly passes
Bring a sign that Cheliss comes

Roleplaying (Communitive Storywriting) / My Purest Heart
« on: July 15, 2014, 10:32:00 pm »
Found this molding on my hard drive. Thought I would take time to share it. Originally began writing it for the first Summer Festival as an event. It was pushed aside because the Festival was already overbooked. I finished it later and made several attempts to get it in-game. Unfortunately that didn't work out either. So here it is in generic form for in-game presentation.  Special thanks to the members of the Call of Destiny and the Red Crystal Den for the help and interest in trying to help me set it up as an in-game event. Enjoy! My Best Wishes to All.

[Girl moves to her right (right front stage) She turns to the audience]

Girl:      " It is here to you, that I have traveled so far from my home to be. To see with mine own eyes. To live within the very stories of the many passing travelers as they retell afar the tales of your Majestic Grace. It is here that I wish so to reside To be a part of your memory. To live forever even if only within the mention of your name spoken among a gathered group about a distant fireplace."

Girl lowers her head. There is a long pause as she stands in silence. She hears again the beckoning of the markets many traders. Taking from me, mine own will to live. I pray....Yet,.. still I beg . That it will be enough."

[Girl pauses in place as the merchants call out again. The she slowly moves to Table2 stops and looks then moves to Table1]

I have to my name, but only a single tria. It is?..I ask of you. Enough to purchase? If only but a small handful of nuts or berries of the splendor that you offer here?"

[Girl turns to Merchant1 as he turns to face the audience]

Merchant1 laughs

Merchant1:   " A single tria you say?"  He laughs again at the girl. "With that I should charge you just to look at such a grand display of my imported fruits and nuts. Nay. Nay. I say to you. It is not enough. It is not enough to even pay for my time that you taken away from me on the day. Be off with you now. Go I say. Go beg in the corners of the back streets where you belong. Be off with you and bother me no more on this day."

[ Girl steps back from table1. Customer enters the stage moving past the girl. He moves to the far side of Table1 and turns to Merchant1]

Merchant1 Greets the customer nodding as he takes the orders given to him. He takes out a sack and begins to fill out the requests.

[Girl steps forward on the stage in front of table1. she faces the audience]

[Girl steps forward on the stage in front of table1. she faces the audience]

Girl closes her eyes. She strains to fight back the tears of the shame she feels and the embarrassment of her poverty. Her hand rises to her face as she wipes the escaping tears away.

[Girl turns slightly to the right to face the audience]

Girl:   " Oh, Hydlaa. For all of my young life you have forever filled my dreams. I have forsaken all that it is I have known to come to you. Is it now? That I shall perish so lowly in poverty among your now lonely streets. Or is it now that I shall be forced to beg among them. To have to rummage through the disregarded refuse of others. With hope, I may see yet one more day in my short life."

[Girl turns slightly left to face the audience]

Girl:  "Nay! I shall not yet give up little strength I have within me. I will not yet be forced to live among the rats in the alleyways searching through scraps. In the slightest of hopes, I may find some small portion to survive into the next day. Nay! I shall not allow this to be my fate."

Narrator: "The curtain closes"

It is believed those born under the sign of Azord are gifted with the ability to see into the visions of the those of the past, seeing all of what they have seen. It may be that they only see that which is relevant to the presence. It is through these visions and teaching that reinforce the prediction of prophecies laid down throughout the cycles.

A prediction is made and said to be sent back to the Temple of the best Day in which the tide may crest it's highest upon the shoreline. It is on that day that a Fair is held upon the Temple of Laanx grounds in Honor of it's Gods. To receive his Blessing or displeasure as they await his sign upon the distant shore.

It is a busy time for the temple as they make preparations in offerings and sacrifice. For good or ill the worship of their God is to be received with relish of the dedication that is due to him. Many young followers may chose this period to join in marriage in hopes that a his blessing will come as a sign of their unions longevity. Crafters, merchants and Tradespersons whether of the Lannx faith join in to Honor a God they may cherish and/or fear in hopes that he may also smiles his grace upon them as well.

The temple of Lannx is not the only Religion Organization that seeks the forecast that is marked by the cresting of the Great Lakes tidal level. Many may send their best Seer's to be among the first to predict the forecast of the future. Many cults find their way into the mix of Religious and University Scholars. Claiming that their predictions are the correct view that should be up held among the others.

Very few have ever seen the rising of the Great lake from the shores of the Sixth level at it's peak. Of those factions that have sent observers have always maintained those that observed the shoreline indefinitely throughout the years to trace the each cresting and to record them. Those records are covenanted within those Organizations to help them reveal any similarities within the measurements that could better predict the outcome of the future. That knowledge being held within the higher ranks releasing only that information needed to better serve their purposes.

Some religions suggest and may believe that the lowering and rising of the tide comes from the efforts of the Gods. The belief dating back, suggesting that Talad and Laanx had rerouted the rivers and streams to serve and supply the rich lands of the First level of Yliakum. Thus draining the lake to serve as a source of life for the planting of each cycles harvest. As the harvest grows to maturity and needs less of the valued nutrients of life the water recedes. Returning to its source, that o the great Lake which begins again to swell in reserve for another cycle.

Scholars trace their belief's to the study of nature. That the necessity of life of the higher levels do indeed draw from the source of the great Lake for life sustaining nutrients. However the tide may be observed as a natural occurrence due to the forces that surround us. Some study the effects that may occur with each passing of the day and the effects that the Crystal may play some part in the flow of the Tidal movement. Their studies look into the events of the seasons, of each period and to the length between each eclipse. Keeping that knowledge and recorded observations for debate and discussions among those of their peers.

Within the month of Azhord much of the faster growing harvest begins to ripen and find it's way into the local Markets. Berries, and common vegetables as well as several herbs and spices. The produce is bought by many to be stored or to produce finer made food or beverages. Crafters may begin to gather to trade to improve their clientele as the harvest season begins in it's infancy. Artisans, Bards and dancers may also present themselves among the crowds to preform for a meal or a handful of coin.

Fortune tellers present themselves for a fee to predict one's future. Some claiming to be born in Azhord and given the ability to forecast one fortune truthfully and accurately.

All Merchants, cooks, crafters traders, and artisans are welcome to join us in the grounds beneath the towering temple of Laanx to celebrate the Erentide Fair.

Other ideas are welcome for the days events and may be added before the weekend

General Discussion / Hydlaa Summer Festival III (Discussion)

Hydlaa Summer Festival III

Yes, It is that time of the year again. So It's time to get the gears turning. This will be the third consecutive year of the Festival. The Summer Festival was planned from the beginning as a community event full of events. That being said, all are welcome to enter an event into the schedule centered around the City of Hydlaa. We do ask that major events are scheduled apart from each other so that they can each benefit from player participation. Smaller events should be scheduled around and/or connected to the larger events to generate the best participation for them.  Some events that get scheduled may over lap due to unforeseen reason so by flexible with that if you decide to plan an event for the Festival.

First I will add some links here for the last two Summer Festivals so that you can see how they were set up and how the events that were held were set up.

[I have to redo the galleries so I'll provide a link when that is ready]

Second, With the relation of the PS Calendar to RL calendar we may want to reconsider changing the name of the Festival. It will still be the summer Festival just by a different name.

That info you can find here
http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=37468.0
and here
http://planeshift.ezpcusa.com/pswiki/index.php?title=Yliakum_Calendar

As far as a date I am looking at the last weekend in August 27-29, 2010 which falls into the PS month of Quintahl This will put the Summer Festival at or near the begining of that month every yea. Give or take a few days. By coordinating it in this manner we can set it up as a regular event each year around the same time period. So that should give us a IC name for the Festival

The Hydlaan Quintahl Festival (How does that grab ya?)

Quintahl as I am understanding it is very similar to the end of August or mid September period anyway so that fits well.

A summer Festival, mainly the larger ones are held at the end of the summer. This allows  for some early crops or seasonal crops to be harvested for use during the festivities. It is also the best time to hold a Festival before the summer's traveler's, merchants, farmers, Hunter.s Miners, begin their journeys back to their home regions to prepare for the seasons harvest and to prepare for the upcoming winter. Sales are popular as Merchants tent to want to sell off as much of their wares before the winter, and the tradespeople look for items that they will need and may be hard to find in later months.

Hydlla being the center city is ideal for holding the main Summer Festival. As well as has all the facilities necessary in which to hold a Festival of this size. The city's Plaza offers a great turntable in which to stage several small events in regard to each being easy to navigate to from the other. So even a new arrival to this large city can basically find their way around from this junction.

During a Festival there is usually a Planned market place and time in which the majority of Merchants and Crafters can display and sell their wares. Being a Festival however, allows them or anyone interested to set up shop at almost anytime of the day in or around the scheduled events of the Festival. Street Venders are common place. Selling Bread, Pies, sweets of all kinds. Beverages of all sorts as well. Shell games, raffles and games of chance surface to provide entertainment at a cost, often mostly to the players of such games. Knowing this first hand often does not discourage a person from participating regardless of their chances of success.

[Wanted to get a minor background in here for newer players]

If you think of a better name let me know.

THIRDLY!

This is a biggy. I need a Tournament to plan the weekend around. I have heard rumors of one in the works. That is about all I know of that. I do not know the intended time period or date if that Tournament is in the works.. If anyone can provide me with any information about that I would appreciate it. Then we can see if we can somehow coordinate it into the Festival. If it is only a rumor then I need to find a interested guild, Alliance, and/or groups that may be interested in holding a large tournament for the Festival this year. One that is not interest in mainly holding one to generate a profit from the event. The CoD has in the past offered to add to the purse of winnings and will again do so this year. Other financial sponsors can be obtained for little more then a mention of their Organization  for a donation to the winning purse. {This is a optional suggestion as many that hold Tournament Events like to take that responsibility themselves as a matter of pride and Honor]

What I would like to see, and this is just me talking.

Either points or elimination.

A tournament of daggers, swords, staves. no armor. Moderate entree fee.. This allows a larger volume of participants. Better fighters won't really have much issue with this, Though this is a chance of luck not going their way.

Another is of course for heavies only. Heavy armor, weapons of choice. I am not sure with the current player base if this can generate the participation that the first suggestion will.Taking that to thought it could probably be held directly following the first.

This is up for discussion, and the decision  left to the party that wishes to undertake the sponsorship of the event. IF one or more party is interested then maybe something can be worked out so that a joint effort can worked out for the best.

Okay what else do we have of interest?

Religion.
There are two religions based in the city of Hydlaa One of course is Laanx, Which is housed in the big red Tower you can't really miss. The other is Xiosia,  which you can miss if you never been to the garden. So Ceremonies can be planned with these religions in mind. Not to say that the others should not be. I am just saying that since these two have roots in Hydlla, I would think that they would want to use that to their advantage and/or to their interest.

Edited this part

Alumni:

This has been a discussion in several threads and often written off as a useless idea. As things are changing.I can't actually agree with that and here is why.

This is the recurring event thread. Not Reoccurring mind you , but it is a step in that direction for the future. Whether or not it leads that far we will have to wait and see

http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=37359.0

My thoughts are that if we extended the Summer Festival from the weekend of the main events to the prior Monday to as the official start of the Festival week. We could use that whole week as an Alumni week. So, in this case for this year it would look something like this

Example:

Monday                     23 August - Laanx Feast in the temple grounds
Tuesday                    24 August  - Party at Kada-Ells
Wednesday               25 August  - Mini Market near Harnsquist
Thursday                   26 August  - Xiosia Ceremony at the Garden
Friday                        27 August -  Entertainment at the RCD
Saturday                   28 August  - Festival Events
Sunday                      29 August -  Festival Events

Weekday events do not need to be major, just sometime to offer some entertainment. That goes with the people involves with the events. What i am saying if we can somehow set a week aside each year around the third week of August it leaves a known point fora reunion or Alumni gathering. Granted that many that have we can not get a hold of. But, there are some that we can, and it is up to them if they want to stop by and say hello. This is not necessarily aimed at them as much as those that play now. If we can establish a reoccurring time period some may come by. I have discussed with other CoD members of a contact to past members for a reunion. One day is an impossibility, but a week is not so bad to try to catch someone. It is always nice to see an old name you know pop in to say hello and have a look around , even if they don't stay. Anyway it is a workable suggestion. The difficult thing is the contacting and hopes that they get it, and want to stop by.

Okay enough of that.
Hmm?

As in the past I am willing to run the schedule for the Summer Festival and help to Coordinate and assist in the planning and holding of events. I am also willing to do most of the promotional 's for it. I will Plan some back up events, and some pockets fixes.

For the record. All past events were done by several people in-game and out.
So for this year I need some volunteers to work with me in supporting events behind the scenes What we provide is support and backup to anyone or group that holds an event. Due to timezones, missed communications. and RL situations an event may stumble. Not often but it happens. I have a good support group that helps,. However new faces are needed and it's a great way to learn from each other. What we try to do is to take turns participating in events, because that is a long weekend. we try to stay informed as to what the event is about. If for some reason one or more of the holding sponsors cannot make it in-game we can offer our assistance under their instructions. Or in a rare case scenario where no one shows up we hold the events ourselves until they show or replace it with a backup plan. Basically we become the backup, backup plan of the event or in this case the weekend. Most of the time it is not necessary and we participate it the event.

[For some of the newer players considering doing an event anytime. Many older players will offer their support in one way or anther, or you can always ask here]

In-Game Roleplay Events / The Second Unodin Welcoming Celebration (RP)
« on: March 17, 2010, 11:05:31 am »
The Unodin Welcoming
April 9, 10, 11, 2010
Friday 1800GMT -Sunday 2400 GMT
Gugrontrid, Outpost.
Hydlaa and Ojaveda.

The Coming of Unodin

The surrounding hills show the last traces of snow as its continues to recede to the warmer weather. The softened ground absorbs much of water that is offered from the melting snows before the heavy rains of the new cycle begins. The soil will welcome the rains until it can hold no more. The excess runs down from the slopes of the surrounding landscape feeding into the rivers and streams. These will rise quickly from the offerings often to their breaking point. The roar of the rushing waters can be heard for kilometers as the rivers and streams weave their way across the land. The passage of which will carry and distribute the nutrients of life along their length.
As the last of winter's cold winds continue to warm with each passing day. The signs of new life begins to emerge. Bearing the promise of renewal as the warmer seasons approach. Across the land plants and foliage spout out. Reaching up towards the offering of the crystals light. Their buds forming in readiness to offer the beauty of their flowers to the warmth of the changing cycle. These Unodin blossoms will soon begin to open adding an array of different colors and scents to the once frigid air.
The freshness of the blossoms creates a stir within the surrounding wildlife. Many of which awaken from their seasonal hibernation to once again roam the lands seeking their place in the environment. Looking to gain new territorial boundaries or simply to search for food. It is the time for birth of many species. The young born will be nurtured and protected until they reach an age when they will move off on their own accord to take their place in the way of life. It is for this reason that many of the worlds wildlife may be over hostile to invaders within their territorial regions.

Across the world many peoples begin the preparations for the cycles change. Each in accordance with the customs of their region, religion, or chosen way of life. The farmers prepare their fields for the planting of the seasons crops, or the new births of the livestock they raise. Miners have already begun to travel from their winter's quarters to beat the the early rains, as they travel to where they will set up the camps which will be their home for much of the year.
With the cycle's passing. The trade routes have begun to reopen. Bringing the prosperity of commerce along the once closed lanes of travel. Travelers swarm the roads with their numbers. Hunters, trappers, traders, merchants, miners, farmers, pilgrims, warriors and criminals all share the same trails. Each intent on the purpose of their livelihood.
The Welcoming of Unodin brings the communities together in celebration to welcome the upcoming change of the cycle. Often centering in the farming communities. Though many do look to their own Gods and beliefs during the first day of Unodin. It is often Xiosia that is mostly looked towards during this celebration. It is her favors and blessings that is sought to bring in the warmth and fair weather needed to raise crops and livestock. It is believed that by her will many of the resources of nature can be harvested from the richness of her bounties and brought to the markets as usable goods.
The festivities of the Unodin Celebration provides the rural and urban communities a chance to introduce their children who have come of age. They in turn get the chance to participate with others to demonstrate their own skills and abilities, socially and physically. In the hopes that they may be able to find suitable companions, a spouse, or the opportunity to earn their way into the community.
Pilgrimages and fasting are often encouraged and observed religiously not only for Xiosia, but to the other Gods as well. Both as a trial and test of faith and to help one establish the strength of dedication to the belief that they have chosen to follow. Fasting usually ends on the first day of Unodin with a feast or a meal dedicated to honor the deity for which it was observed.

The Unodin Welcoming Celebration

Last year about this time the Daughters of Xiosia and The Call of Destiny held a Ojavedan event based on  pre-planting ceremonies in honor of Xiosia.
The Son's of Xiosia and the Daughters of Xiosia, along with CoD are interested in doing so again using a similar theme for a RP background. We are looking at as a tentative date April 9, 10, 11, of 2010. Right now it is just in the planning stages and some of the events from last year will or may be used again and/or updated accordingly. It will be a few weeks before we do the actual post but wanted to throw a heads up for everyone so we could generate some interest for it.

The unwritten plan atm is to start on that Friday night in Gugrondrid with maybe an honoring to Talad then letting things develop from that point with added events throughout the weekend by ourselves and other guilds and interested parties.
Saturday will still see us in the Gugrotrid region with a parade of guilds leading from the outpost to Hyldaa in the afternoon with later entertainment.
Sunday will more then likely start in Hydlaa and a parade or group traveling will be done to Ojaveda where the remainder of the events will be held as they were the year prior ending with a ceremony and large market.

Again this is meant as heads up to let you know that it is in planning stages, and that we will be looking for help to fill the gaps and have other events held and/or sponsored by other guilds and/or parties along the same theme of the Celebration.

I wanted also to get some thoughts or ideas on the idea as well. Not that I have run low on them yet, I am just interested in what someone else thinks on the idea.

Here is the link for last years Unodin Celebration and its order of events.

This one will be scheduled in the same manner as it was and the two summer festivals which I will post links for as well. That way you have an idea of how they worked.

Summer Festival 2008
http://www.hydlaaplaza.com/smf/index.php?topic=32612.0

Keep in mind that this was and is meant to be an RP event of events. So events should be conducted in such a manner that skill level is not a factor needed for participation. That said I should also stress we are looking at the peaceful side of Honoring Xiosia, so tournaments and fighting events will not be considered for the Celebration.

After the event is posted I will up keep the schedule of events as it is updated

[ I am looking for someone that might be interested in a ceremony to Honor Laanx while we are in Hydlaa. One, that follows in suit of the main theme of the weekend]

It is time to open our doors once again as the
cold season ends. Let us gather together to greet the coming
change with the unity of Brotherhood. Together, let us
welcome the promise of renewal that the new season brings

As the snows and ice retreats before the warming winds,
let the roads once again be filled with the abundance of travelers
as they come forth from the far corners of our world. Bringing
with them the promise of prosperity and commerce.

It is  the time to dust away the cobwebs from our stores
and to polish up our best merchandise.  Time to gather up
our inventories, time to renew them, time to share them.

I ask and invite you all. Both the old and the new. Join
with me and others to open once again the busy marketplace of
the great city of Hydlaa. To be held in it's center Plaza on the last
day this  month. From about Midday to Dusk.

Let us gather together and share the breaking point of
this last harsh season in celebration. To Hail, and remember old
friends as we meet and embrace new ones. Sharing with one
and another the mix of our cultures, in trade, craft, and story.

                                                                             Truly said,
"It is here, where we will find the greatest riches that
                                                                             Commerce brings."

                                                                                                                Honorably,

                                                                                                                      Jaycol Ironhandt

[ I have opened a large window as a time line. One, due to the volume of new faces I have seen, another to spread out the market to make it as an ongoing event. This will allow for less congestion of the area to enhance better game play. I will add some rules of conduct and suggestions. These we cannot enforce. They are mainly common courtesy and/or common sense. I will ask those that participate to please stop and consider them and to abide by them. They are based on experience gathered from other players over the last two years. Not doing so may not only hurt your business and reputation. it may also hurt the business of others by reducing any number of customers due to gameplay conditions. Basically said: "If they can't come into that area they won't!"  So everything we do to keep it simple with the new client the better for all.

I thank you for you time and consideration]

[* Displays: Displays should be limited to ground cover, A single rug and/or  fur.  Use books to display the list of your inventory (The less items the better, especially in large gatherings).

 * Books and maps: If you sell books and maps in numbers. Please purchase some sacks or small crates to display your items this will help reduce item numbers presented.

 * Dropped items: OLD RULE! If you do not want to lose it, Don't put it on the ground. Markets cause game play issues. If you crash your items are free for all. Simply put.

 * Magic: Do not use magic during an event.

 * /Shout: Do not use shout to advertise your merchandise.  More then half of your customers are RPers ( should be all now). If you clug up the main chat window with nonsense,  they will not come and they will share that information with other potential customers.

 * /Auction: works great for markets. It has a long range and can be viewed at will. IT also records the message! So you do not need to repeat your self every five minutes or try to out do the auctions of others.

 * Role play:  Role play your sales! Use as few brackets as possible. "That will be four circles, please." vs [Give me 1000 trias]  /Whisper is also handy for negotiating quick prices in a OOC manner.

"I think that covers all the basics. Again these are common courtesy, and common sense based on the experience of myself and others over the last two years. Have fun! I hope to see you there.]

In-Game Roleplay Events / Jaycol Lays Dying (RP)
« on: August 30, 2009, 04:58:03 am »

Jaycol lays dying as he continues to press his hand against the deep puncture wound at his left side. The darkened blood continues flow but not freely, He rotates his head slightly looking for anyone that may be on the distance road below. He realizes now even if they were he did not have the strength left to call to them.
His mind races in search of other options.. He knows he has little time left, too much of his life blood has spill out of the small opening on his side. His fingers play idly with the ring he wears on his right hand as they often did when he was considering his thoughts. He pauses for a moment holding his hand up to stare upon the ring. Some how it had been overlooked.
He closes his eyes and concentrates. He very rarely uses this skill except when he is alone in his office at The Call of Destiny's Hall. Slowly he opens his eyes and looks at the small animal standing nearby. It sniffs at him and whines with concern. Jaycol uses the last of his strength to push it away from him. He rolls his head and looks in the direction of Gugrondrid. He pushes at it again before he losses consciousness.
Jaycol's body was found on a hilltop outside of Gugrondrid in a pool of his own blood. His hand resting near the small puncture wound on his side. Those that found him healed him as well as they could with magic and potions so he could be safely moved to the Stonehead Tavern. Here he will be looked after until it is safe to move him again or until he recovers.

Who did it?: Only Jaycol and the Entity(s) responsible know for sure. That being the case his life may still be in danger in more ways then one.

Where to look for clues?: Jaycol was last seen in good health By Elady and two other patrons at the Stonehead Tavern. There are some clues there. They may help. They may not. I guess that depends on what questions are asked.

Will Jaycol recover? He may in time if he is well taken care of as he struggles between the realm of light and darkness and he is kept safe.

In these time of growing wickedness who can we trust to guard or even to look after his wounds. Surely the entity(s) responsible may try in some way to keep him silent by making sure he never recovers.

[For the sake of playing this out I will log on and remain at the Stonehead tavern when I know there is a staff member present there. I will remind unconscious for about two weeks to allow RP to develop out from this for those willing to partake. I have given nothing more here then the obvious. It will take some interaction and some detective work in order to work it out. Thus I say no more. I leave the rest for others to fill in the details of the story. Until/if I rcover. Have fun]

HYDLAA SUMMER FESTIVAL
7 August 2009-9 August 2009
Hydlaa and surrounding communities

[ In keeping with the making of a Tradition we would like to once again announce the plans of a Summer Festival to be held in Hydlaa. Some major [Events] activities will be scheduled and sponsored. These will provide the setting to build the rest around. We hope this year to gather more interests in sponsorship for smaller and/or larger activities that can fill the schedule. Anything you think that would be fun or interesting ( within means of the festivities can yet be added.)
The schedule will be kept and updated regularly as it was last year until  it is full. Some smaller activities can run at the same time. I will schedule a few non-sponsored activities that only need the participation of  interested parties to show up and be part of..
Small stands for merchandise are not required to be scheduled and are encouraged to set up at will to take advantage of the weekend activities. Including food and an outdoor restaurant style settings.

If you or your guild is interested in providing an hour or two of entertainment for the weekend place contact Jaycol here by PM, or in-game]
