Discriptions are good, though i think having loads of differnt professions and skills would make a char more unique
Abstraction is a concept
That hasn?t fully
Developed into something solid.

How about mixing the two? Ask for some descriptive text, and then mix that with the character\'s clothing, gear, race, alignment, reputation, job, etc. to generate descriptions. We could even have a few different formulas so that you don\'t get the same description every time, which would be cool.

The Fallout system rewards or takes Karma for deeds or quests. For example there\'s a hstage situation, the good guy kills the guy with the hostage and gets karma, while the bad guy just blows up the building histage and all and gets negative karma. Then have small markings like \"grave robber\" if you dug up some bums and took their stuff, or \"child killer\", stuff like that. You see how much karma a person has by just putting your mouse over them. Then they haifferent levels, like this forum has ranks. Someone with over 100 karma is a champion, while someone with -100 karma is the cannibalistic, physcho. And someone with -1000 is Princess Aelya.  :D  lol.

I really like the smithing idea. Imagine what you could do with armor.

About Kada-El, not everyone can make their own web-sites exclusively about Planeshift, plus she\'s probably famous \'cause she isn\'t wearing a shirt in her signature.

Yeah, everyone\'s gonna be       just to get attention.

The fun part about descriptions is writing them yourself. You can give your character a personality in their description.

First of all, \"I\" always thought she had a shirt on, just a neting type of shift, for the rougs.
And second, is that is Kada, well, i am just speachless...

And now to contribute something to the topic. How about getting Karma for doing quests. In some games, once you have successfully completed a quest, you get the reward, and some \"karma point\" They, in return, alter your name so that it appers in diff. colour. Diff shades determine how many quests you have done, hence, how strong you are. The evil side of things, well, this is a tough one, unless it can be made, so that you pick either good, or evil in the beginning, and than do quests based on your alignment. But with has already been discussed in here, so pardon me for repeting this.

P.S. plus, there is only a small precentage of \"evil\" characters, compared to the masses of \"good\" once.

What I\'m suggesting would have that, too. You would give some description, a few phrases or something, and it would mix it with some other pre-written stuff. That way it could change dynamically based on you\'re equipment, your health, how powerful you are, etc.

Well, I\'m not a very experienced MMORPGer but I\'d rather be able to remember someone by the way they look instead of reading something. It would save alot of time with the weapon/armor editer instead of reading the description of everyone you pass.
Uhh, that\'s just my two cents.

I was referring to the fact that she was dedicated and worked hard to get famous.  Nobody should be able to get famous without doing any work, unless you want to go around insulting people, then you\'ll get famous (or infamous) pretty quick.

Uh, sorry. It wasn\'t really an insult...well yeah, actually it was kinda. My other point was, This is a game, not every person can devote that much time and work into it.
Well sorry. I really like the weapon/editor and       ing Fallout\'s idea the most though.

Peace. 8)

My friend has Fallout, but he hasn\'t let me play it yet. Still I heard the karma system in it is interesting. All I ever see him doing is insulting people and attacking poor defenseless mutants and stuff.

Oops, I wasn\'t saying that you\'re insulting people.  I was just trying to say that\'s the only way to get famous easy, is if you insult people.  No offense.

Its true though. If your a jerk people will remember you (And hate your guts), but if your all goody-goody, you won\'t get much credit (among players anyway). Insult people and be remembered, help an old lady cross the dungeon, and 5 minutes later she\'ll forget you (but thats probably Alzheimers).
