I can\'t wait to test out the browser if it gets out.  :D

I don\'t think that age is a real barrier to getting involved in some serious business, be it programming, design, or anything. Personally my main concern would be the quality of work - It doesn\'t matter what you age is - If you can do something better than somebody else it shows you\'re getting something right isn\'t it?

I guess why most people might laugh when you say you\'re 14 is cos they don\'t expect many 14-yr-olds to be very good at what they claim to be able to do. No doubt there are geniuses out there, but perhaps their skepticism is that you\'re not likely to be one of them.

Still, until they\'ve seen what you can do it\'s pretty hard for anybody to say anything really. I\'ve seen friends who got temp jobs doing programming for large companies at the age of 14. So it\'s no surprise if a young upstart can teach his older counterpart one or two things.

I\'m 20 btw, not much of a programmer at all, more of an enthusiast, and I\'m part of the team that keeps the Fragnetics server where Planeshift is hosted running. Age is really no barrier at all :)

personally, age is just something useless, really. I\'ve met children who are more mature and intellegent than those who are rearing them. and as for child labor laws, those were put up by officials who wanted to protect children from grueling labor back int the 1800\'s. you think the current day drop out rate is frightening? check out history! most youngsters worked for practically free, and they never finished basic schooling. so the times are just now catching up. (btw if you want to volunteer to help with production, I dont mind one single bit ;). you will have to get a parents permission and all that legal mambo-jumbo outta the way though)
;D

but I agree, I CANT WAIT TILL THIS GAME IS FINISHED!!!

i started programming C when i was 10-11, did basic before that, made my first relatively good game in opengl when i was 14. (i\'m 15 now and a complete linux freak)

I really wouldn\'t judge people based on their age when talking about computers. I would however judge people on their typing skills, which batdude seems to lack.
Thanks a lot Venge...

Yep, you\'re a bigshot programmer.

Now.  Spell \"penguin\".

Actually....spell.

Perhaps your claims would carry more weight if it wasn\'t crammed with typos.  I\'d be willing to believe you - my husband wrote his first program at five.  But he also was very literate.

Just a thought.

Big shot, no way...

I know enough, but I\'m no big shot...
I\'m spelling impared, so what.  When scripting every thing I make is duble checked and debuged.
By the way... Albert Einstien couldn\'t drive.  Didn\'t stop him from be one of the worlds greatest thinkers!  And yes, there were cars back then! :D

*chuckles*

Well, I think I\'ll just nod and smile and bow out of this one.  If you think spelling is \"so what\", good luck writing a CV or getting into Uni.

Hubby is groaning the words \"script kiddie\" behind me...

well, this is by no means an attack on you, but if you had at least a sufficient mark in maths you could figure out that one albert einstein agaist several milions of morons that also aren\'t good at maths makes a pretty slim chance that you\'re in the albert einstein class :]

...it\'s just a simple statistic ...on which most people decide

i mean, if you\'re really that good as you claim, my hat\'s off, but if you\'re not ...then you\'re just another one of those millions :]

I said I\'m not that good.  I\'m not comparing myself to Albert Einstien.  I\'m just saying that its not fair to judge someone on one thing if it is irrelevant  to thier abillities.
Under no circumstances am I stating I am a great programmer, I\'m not. :]

FYI, Albert Einstein was a grade-A student in almost every subject.
Browsing the forums when I\'m bored, nothing more.

My reason for judging people\'s programming skills by their spelling is quite simply that you write obscenely much when programming, and also read sadisticly much.

Not that I\'m discriminating you because you are spelling-impaired or whatever, but it just doesn\'t fit my view of programming, sort of like a blind person playing computer games.
Thanks a lot Venge...

batdude, this is mainly your inspiration.

I\'m now 18, and I started my whole programming carrer when I was 14. Before that, I only PLAYED. I did \"Hello world!\" and other primitive progs at your age, and you know what: I don\'t care! I only feel pity for you, as you have surely lost your childhood - but if it\'s good for you...

I know you feel yourself big now. It is simple psychology: you can (probably) do things what way older people than you can do, so you consider yourself mentally at their level. Well, I tell you, because you say some \"magic\" words, that the majority just marks as \"only doable by super-good programmers\", or try to shout as loud as you can that you are a Linux geek, won\'t get you in their world. I can even say things about programming, that you would just stare at with open mouth. So, with your words: \"To me your a newbie\" - completely.

If you were truly a really good programmer, then you wouldn\'t have shouted so loud... With this style you can only make yourself look ridiculous.

Sorry about this, but I just don\'t like little kids think they are bigguns. And I\'m not just judging you \"on one thing\". A personality is not one thing.

If you still don\'t get what I tried to say, look at Rulzern\'s posts - I just got it to know, he is 15, and I considered him at least 18 (I just picked someone, but I have seen an other 14 year old \"newbie\" who was way more mature than you).
