I guess this is somthing that the settings department will be able to convey quickest. What other monsters are there in yilakum, i know more will come with time but we could hear about them first.

what kind of rituals exactly do laanx preists go through (important for vespers)

what morals (if any) are laanx followers expected to uphold?

According to laanx followers, what is the purpose of life?

Same questions go for talad followers...

What kind of venoms exist in yliakum, and while we're at it, what kinds of herbs exist. (important for alchemists and chemists in ps)

Kinda goes along with zan's idea, but a list of known dieseases sure would help for accurate rp.

Mining on any layer bellow the first layer is illegal for fear of making a hole in the salagtight, right? So whats the punishment for illegal mining opperations on the lower levels?

Going on from what Earl_Listbard said about venoms and herbs. I'd like to know what the medical knowledge is like in Yliakum and whether there are doctors and chemists. Obviously there are alchemists but that is in a more magical sense.

What is the understanding of science so far?

And what values does each god convey. For instance if I was a devout Talad follower, what values would base my life on.

Are there seasons in Yliakum?

Are there any special days of celebration or mourning. Anniversaries of historical events?

Are there any sports played in Yliakum? Maybe a general sport, or several sports that are traditionally played by each race.

I hope this helps

EDIT: Also, if you really want imaginitive specific ideas:
What are the main exports of each city?
How does the weather vary in different parts of Yliakum?
What do races think of their own and each others cities. (eg. Do the dwarfs like Hydlaa? If not why not?)
What habitat and conditions does each creature need to be in to survive?
Do different races need different conditions to survive?
Who owns the various cities? A mayor like figure?

I was just wondering about the Xacha's ancient knowledge. Since we are in a medieval time period, is this ancient knowledge similar to ancient Greek and Egyptian knowledge vs. medieval scientist’s knowledge? How much did the Xacha know? How much did this ancient knowledge spread though Yliakum?  I am assuming that this ancient knowledge stayed with the Xacha because the other races didn’t use this mineral in their architecture. We know Xacha had an ancient knowledge of master iron working (large flat panels of iron, iron rivets) and is still reflected in their architecture today.  Would there have been large mills/factories to pound out all of this metal into large sheets? Would these mill/factories been in their ancient knowledge?  If large mills weren’t used, were masses of people used?  If large mills were used, where are they today?

Where did all of this iron come from?  Surely there can’t be that much iron just laying around on the top soil?  Were/are/will be ore MINES sunk into the ground?

Have the races agreed upon nurturing Yliakum because they know there is a finite world?  Or do they have a mind set of “god will provide” and “god will keep providing”?

Are/will there be VAST stretches of land between cities?  Where one way trip to that city would be a 4 or so Yliakum day journey?  If so, this might lead to “boom” towns of just people.  I think it might be nice, but maybe just me.  But as stated in the history, some races have tried to “own” all the land and push others out.  Does this mean that they own it because they are populous, or just because they wanted to own it?

Is wood becoming scarce in Yliakum?  I sure hope not, because if so, then whole cultures will be wiped out due to the lack of this natural resource.  I know foresting hasn’t been implemented yet, so there is no need for forests yet, but my question lies in the idea of “will the citizens of Yliakum have to worry about conservation?”

That’s all for now, need sleep.

*edit*

I have another question.  Is the government highly involved with the religion?  Does religion run most of the population’s believes/customs/ideas?  Is “Cause the Gods probably made it this way” a final answer to most questions?  Is free thinking encouraged or looked down upon if it offends the religious people, or the “gods” themselves?  Is scientific theory encouraged as a mean of explanation of things in Yliakum, or is the population suppose to rely upon religion for their answers?

I apologize if someone has asked this before, but... What exactly is going on that required most of Ojaveda to be quarantined? It doesn't seem to be really explained well enough.

Is the dark ground texture such as where the Dark Wanderer stands supposed to be swamp, metamorphic rock, a molten lava field or something else.?

Few religion based questions:

What is the incidence as far as cults and the like?  Noting the fanatics down in the sewers (who seem so intent on sacrificing me), what would be the incidence of secret cults (Illuminati, anyone? :P), secret societies, or more wide open groups starting up new religion like things based on gods other then Talad, Laanx and Vodul?  What would the average person know about Vodul, is he commonly worshiped as a sort of overlord god or just ignored?

What, exactly, are the followers of Laanx and Talad's views on Vodul (if they know of him)?  What, exactly, is the Book of Names:  a book of rules?  a history?  something in between, like the Bible?  a set of parables, such as Aesop's Fables, except with a more religious meaning?  What do Laanx and Talad require of their clergy:  Chastity? Strict daily prayer?  Self mutilation?  etc.

Does Planeshift have anything comparative to dnd Paladins:  knights who fight in a God's name?  In other words, is it with or against the settings to roleplay one?

Few government questions:

What is the crime rate (as far as murders in towns, organized crime, trafficking in illegal goods, etc.)?  Does the government commonly have officials who are corrupt?  Does it often have crazy officials (for instance, ones who are paranoid to the point of having others killed, ones who will do things like make their Magaras their chief adviser, etc.)?  What exactly are the various position's powers (in respect to control over the guard, ability to legally put down dissent, etc.)?  Is speaking out against the government punishable by military action?  Will the average guard take a bribe if nobody is looking?

And last but not least:  Is it a punishable crime to insult or verbally harass the guard when they ask  you to help them?  If so, what is the punishment?  Could they punish you even if it wasn't a crime that was on the books?

About the first question: FNORD

Seriously, the "secrecy" toggle on guild creation and some creativity from the side of the community will answer to that, but you won't find  much answers on the guild forums as separating IC from OOC secrecy is not easy(But I think there's no "secret world power" in Yliakum, although that does not mean there aren't "conspiracy theorists"  ::). ). For the second, same thing, you could make "guilds" to be entirely as new religions or mystical views. I think that the Enlightened are an example of it.

Now about what already exists on the Settings. Besides that nature cult leaded by a NPC that is in the *spoiler* and the "dark circle", I don't know. But I suppose it may be common, although not easy to perceive(a good thing as they are supposed to be more or less secret)

I read this topic every day and there are works in progress to answer some of this so do not feel neglected. If someone asks something settings has already answered you are welcome to give them their answer but i would vastly prefer this thread to be dictacted by people who know a lot or all there is to know about the settings through the game. Thanks again everyone.

They might be answered in books as well as npc speach you never know what the setting devs might come up with next

Perhaps some extra explanations on magic? How does the purifying work, why can you only bond to one glyph of the same kind. Is it inhibited for multiple persons to bond to one glyph? How do staves work together with glyphs?
