Hey all, UTM and I were having this conversation on the IRC fan channel and we decided that we posters all need to be nice here on the forums.  That way the forum mods will start be nicer to us.  So we all need to get together here and start being really nice here from now on, okay everyone?

P.S.  And if we're all really really nice here maybe Neko will remove the flamewar from his sig ;-)

So if you want to talk ‘nice’ first you must define it so there is no misunderstandings of what nice is:

Nice:

With all the cultural differences and the language barrier I find being ‘nice’ to everyone is can be daunting. Though I keep trying. I understand why neko has to keep his ‘flame.’ He has a hard job and being nice is not always part of it.

So back to trying to be ‘nice’ I say, neko keep up the great work doing a job that I would never ever want to do and thank you.

Oh and "nice" is a euphemism for stupid.

What brought on this thread? I have not noticed anything particularly nasty on the part of the moderators, nor, really from the posters. A little bit of good natured sniping, perhaps but no real venality.

If you don't care for the animated gif referencing one of the best "evil" villains ever created in an anime series from the show cowboy bebop, I could change it to an animated gif I made myself a long long time ago from one of my other favorite shows:



I doubt many people would recognize where that one come from though.

As for the topic of being "nice" on the forums, it isn't required for people to be nice.  It's simply required that if you don't have something constructive to say, you don't say anything at all, or else you are given a timeout.

Some of the older members will disagree and some may agree with this, but if you were around the forums say, oh, say 2002, the atmosphere around here was quite different.  Flaming ran rampart, people avoided the forums at all costs, and generally it was a cesspool of off topic, random dribble.

Some people with lower maturity levels may wish to go back to those days, and if they do, then they are freely welcome to make their own forums and post all of that stuff there.  But on these official forums, rules have been set in place to allow for the majority of people to have a pleasant time while using the forums and allowing for them to feel welcomed being here.

Hi all, thank you all for responding to my post so let me give my response before I go to college, okay?  I define "nice" as "don't be an ass" and I take it from an essay on Wikipedia (which uses more colorful words).  Some people would rather word this as "treat others the way you wish to be treated" but that doesn't really work if you wish to be treated with assery.

His sig is still there, which means we ain't trying hard enough people, so we all need to get together and be nice, OK?  If I recall, the villain gets shot in the face or something.

I've been around since 2002 and a lot of these people were noobs back then.  I don't think cmhitman would make a good forum mod but I really miss him.
