1) One day you'll understand why I trolled so hard well before leaving ;)

I know exactly why you trolled so hard in the past. First it was because you thought all that kissing of rears you did would keep you in good graces enough to where you could do whatever you want and get away with it. Then, you trolled because you found out otherwise. :P Knowing that you would be inclined to go down this path is why called you out on the brownnosing early on. ;)

Nope, still not got it.

Yeah, the idea of two servers is to allow people to choose whether to RP or not. Only it never worked so well, as those who wanted to not roleplay wanted the more active server.

hehe... Gosh, I knew Xoel would burnout and get as unabashedly grumbly as the rest of us... I just didn't know it would happen so soon... Darn, lost that bet! I gave you a year dude, you could have at least gone about 4 or 5 more months before you cracked. ;) But at least I was right in that you wouldn't go quietly into that goodnight. ;D

2) When they banned Vakachehk I decided it was the last straw, sorry it didn't happen 5 months later, blame Ingles and his banhammah itchy hands.

3) I still think I'm right. Any governing body, digital or real, should be scrutinized by their public. Public discussion of these things leads to the public being better informed, it's better PR, yes there will be flamers, but really, anyone with a brain can tell who is right and who is wrong in a situation, and make that decision for themselves. What are the devs/GMs afraid of? Being wrong a few times?

Let me point out the case of Naimon Ulin, got banned for being a griefer, went to MMORPG.com and sobbed about it. Had that happened on our forums, we would have all told him to stfu, he was in the wrong. But because it wasn't discussed/sorted within the PS community on our forums, he went to MMORPG.com and vented, and there were a few players that said "Wow after reading this debate, I don't want to play PlaneShift, ever." That's bad PR, ladies and gentlemen.

Of course, there would be no need to have these changes if the GM team was above reproach, but sadly, I've seen a few cases of bad behaviour from them now.

PlaneShift was mentioned as "roleplaying supporting" or "roleplaying related" game.

Never as a "roleplaying enforcing" one.

Laanx => SkyLab => ZeroPing is the server where roleplaying is "allowed and preferred", not "the only exclusively correct form of enjoying the game".

LOL! This is the most I have heard about rules with guild houses...
...

Sounds like Wayward Kingdom will loose their house the next time they get robbed  ;)

Gloating and sneering. Are you proud of it? Are your parents proud of you?

From http://www.planeshift.it/policies.html

" Roleplay Policy

In Character (IC) means to act, speak and behave like your character will do, not you as a player will do - also known as roleplay. An example of IC (In-Character) speech is: "Hello traveller, did you hear any news about Hydlaa these days?"

Out Of Character (OOC) is when you are speaking with a GM, or when you speak of any real life events/matters. An example can be: "GM, my client is acting strangely, is there a patch to fix it?"

Remember to act in-character as much as possible when talking to others! We are all working towards a Roleplay atmosphere in PlaneShift. OOC should be used only in /tell with a GM, in the help channel or in petitions. All other communications have to be IC. OOC text should be designated with brackets - [ ] - as regular text comes from the mouth of your character, who knows nothing about computers, video games, the internet, or Picasso. Read the Setting for official information about the world your character belongs to - and while your character can certainly come from another "plane" outside of it, don't do something outrageous like try to bring in "roleplay" guns. Keep with the medieval fantasy atmosphere as much as you can.

The game is about roleplay, so part of the rules are to encourage or "enforce" it as smoothly as possible. The freedom of everyone has to be respected as long as it doesn't come in the way of someone else's, with a priority on the RPG style. The name policy, the content of the dialogs and the online activities are concerned with this issue.

The language in-game is English. You may use other languages in private messages like /tell, or in guild chat. This allows all the players in the game to interact with each other regardless of where they are from - and prevents the separation of the community into groups based on nationality."

Sorry LigH you're wrong. But imo that page needs to be corrected.

And by the way, yes, his father was proud of him. He laughed when I told him his son was banned for robbing digital guildhouses. Not even kidding, first reaction was laughter. He then said "oh well, what'd you expect? Plenty more games like that around though isn't there?" (he assumed bans were permanent)

Lhaa wasn't banned, he/she was kicked by (OMG) In***s for... talking back. Even though he was really in the right given the situation.

No other popular MMO has the whole aging thing, I don't see why PS should.... that and forcing mortality on players is a big no-no....

Webster's ninth new collegiate dictionary:

mate3 n (defintion #3) one of a pair: as a: either member of a couple and esp. a married couple. b: either member of a breeding pair of animals. c: either of two matched objects.

Two of the three subdefinitions do not deal with male or female differentiation or breeding practices.

But you're using it in the context of definition b), right? And that is where my issue lies.

Nice to see an update :)

My only concern is this: That you refer to them alot as 'mates'. This would be a false use of the term as mates are animal pairs for the production of offspring (ie: mating).... in Enkidukai terms, this would surely only apply to a male and female Enkidukai. Just my two cents.

Illysia: There's always a criminal element in society. It just so happens that the criminal element in PS society sucks at keeping quiet and unseen.

Turn sound off, or find, download and install OpenAL, and try again.

Check in PSLaunch if sound is turned on, and whether it is Software or OpenAL selected, please.

Nice, simple, and to the point. A good foundation.

The settings aren't even available to the players for mysterious reasons.

I tell you once, I tell you a million times, the settings aren't available because they're 1) Not there and 2) what is there hasn't had inconsistencies fixed.

Oh, and there's a huge hole in internal docs where UtM had been making docs. Because none of them can be used with his revelation that he never signed the licence. Funny how some people stick to a view that supports their negative views though.

Really, your argument bores me. If you don't like the way a commercial game is, you certainly don't whinge that they don't support your style of play. You just don't waste time and effort on that game or its community. And yet, in PlaneShift, made entirely by a volunteer, everyone feels the need to troll whenever something they don't like is said, and turn every thread into a whinge about the game not being perfect for your perfectionist RP. Get a life, 'nuff said.

I can see benefits and shortcomings to this idea.

Weltall also thinks grinding is RPing a warrior and that RPers should better play on IRC. And he's not alone... that's how it goes here.

While I don't agree with weltall on a few things, he is right in that you don't need a fancy 3D client to roleplay. Pen and Paper. Even an IRC channel would do. Add some imagination. PlaneShift is being developed as a game not just a platform for roleplay. Game. You know, the things you do for fun.
